The Ger Lyons-trained VELVETEEN won the Qipco EBF Fillies’ Maiden for Qatar Racing, who also sponsored the race, and collected the tenth £25,000 October ‘Book 1 Bonus’. The daughter of EXCEED AND EXCEL will earn €49,375 for the victory after prizemoney of €10,147 and a Plus 10 Bonus of €9,375 are added to the £25,000 October ‘Bonus 1 Bonus’. VELVETEEN was purchased at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale for 50,000 guineas by David Redvers Bloodstock from the draft of Highclere Stud. Six of the ten winners of the £25,000 Book 1 Bonus thus far were bought for 80,000 guineas or less. Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale takes place October 4 – 6.
