381 Entries For £25,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus Scheme
The all new £25,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus Scheme has attracted a massive 381 entries, all of which stand to win a £25,000 bonus should they win one of approximately 300 qualifying maiden and novice two year old races in Britain and Ireland during the forthcoming Flat Turf season.
Described by Newmarket trainer Ed Dunlop as ‘a great scheme’, and by Malton based Richard Fahey as ‘a fantastic idea’, the innovative scheme was introduced by Tattersalls last year for all yearlings purchased or bought in at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale. The 381 entries represent 82% of lots offered at the 2015 renewal of Europe’s premier yearling sale and there will be a total of approximately 300 qualifying two year old maiden races in Britain and Ireland.
Commenting on the impressive number of entries for the £25,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said;
“We always felt that the £25,000 October Book 1 Bonus would capture the imagination of owners and trainers and the number of entries is a fantastic endorsement of the new scheme. These October Book 1 two year olds stand to win unprecedented amounts of prize money for winning their maidens - as much as £69,850 in the case of the Convivial Maiden at York which has been won by an October Book 1 purchase in both 2014 and 2015.”
Expanding further on the new scheme, Mahony added;
“The new scheme represents a very significant financial commitment by Tattersalls to British and Irish racing and has been introduced to coincide with the company's 250th anniversary year. Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale represents the pinnacle of thoroughbred breeding in Europe and it is fitting that these two year olds will be rewarded with win prize money equal to or better than anywhere in the world. The first qualifying race takes place at The Curragh on Sunday 20th March and we are enormously looking forward to the first £25,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus winner.”

ELIGIBILTY:
Any lot offered for sale in Book 1 of the 2015 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale which is sold, bought in or unsold.
Any lot withdrawn from Book 1 of the 2015 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale which is subsequently offered for sale at the 2015 Tattersalls December Yearling Sale and sold, bought in or unsold.
ENTRY FEE:
£1,000 payable to Tattersalls.
QUALIFYING RACES:
Any Class 2, 3 or 4 two year old Maiden race run in the UK under BHA rules during the 2016 Flat Turf season, or Class 2, 3 or 4 two year old race reclassified by the BHA as a ‘Novice’ race subsequent to the launch of the ‘Book 1 Bonus’ Scheme.
Any ‘Open’ two year old Maiden race run in Ireland under HRI rules during the 2016 Irish Flat Turf season. (Excludes Auction Maidens and Median Auction Maidens).
