Australia Leads Tattersalls October 1 Double on Opening Day of York’s Ebor Meeting

AUSTRALIA and POSTPONED provided a timely reminder of the quality to be found at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale (October 7 - 9), Europe’s premier yearling sale, when winning the Group 1 Juddmonte International and Group 2 Great Voltigeur Stakes respectively on the opening day of York’s prestigious Ebor meeting.

The outstanding dual-Derby winner AUSTRALIA continued his Group 1 winning form when landing the Juddmonte International Stakes which was his third consecutive victory at the highest level following on from the English and Irish Derbies. The son of GALILEO out of the Oaks winning mare OUIJA BOARD was purchased as a yearling at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale by Demi O’Byrne from Stanley House Stud for 525,000 guineas.

The Luca Cumani trained POSTPONED showed he was a horse with a future with his strong staying display to win the Group 2 Great Voltigeur Stakes. The son of DUBAWI was purchased at Book 1 of the October Yearling Sale for 360,000 guineas by Charlie Gordon-Watson and John Warren on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum from the draft of Highclere Stud, who will consign his IFFRAAJ half-brother as lot 940 at Book 2 of the October Yearling Sale.
