The penultimate race in Europe’s most valuable sales race series, the £1.3 million Tattersalls Millions, was won by GIFTED MASTER. The 3yo gelding trained by Hugo Palmer ran out an impressive winner taking the £100,000 Tattersalls Millions 3YO Sprint from WATERLOO BRIDGE. It was a repeat performance from Gifted Master in the hands of jockey Pat Smullen who together had triumphed over the Ballydoyle raider in the £500,000 Tattersalls Millions 2YO Trophy last year.

Trainer Hugo Palmer commented: “That was a huge relief. I felt that he had improved a lot over the winter and am delighted with how he has won it in the end. It is hugely exciting for both the owner and the yard to have now won two of the Tattersalls Millions races with this horse, two of the final races in the series.”

The Kodiac gelding cost 75,000gns as a yearling when purchased by Rabbah Bloodstock from leading Irish consignors Tally-Ho Stud. Following his win in the £100,000 Tattersalls Millions 3YO Sprint, Gifted Master’s winnings will be nudging almost £400,000 for his owner Dr Ali Ridha.

The Tattersalls Millions race series will conclude this Thursday with the running of the £200,000 Tattersalls Millions 3YO Trophy at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile Racecourse. Book 1 of the 2016 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale will take place October 4 – 6 and will feature the only yearlings eligible for the £25,000 Tattersalls October ‘Book 1 Bonus’ which offers a £25,000 bonus to any October Book 1 graduate who wins a qualifying 2YO maiden or novice race in Great Britain or an ‘Open’ 2YO Maiden in Ireland.
