The final race in Europe’s most valuable sales race series, the £1.3 million Tattersalls Millions, was won by the John Gosden-trained LINGUISTIC. The 3 YO colt ran on strongly in the hands of William Buick in the Godolphin blue silks, to take the £200,000 Tattersalls Millions 3YO Trophy from HARLEQUEEN.

Godolphin’s racing manager, John Ferguson commented: “Linguistic was a beautiful yearling, as one would expect from Book 1 of the October Yearling Sales, a very athletic horse by Lope De Vega. He ran a couple of times last year finishing second on both occasions. He had been working very well and this was the obvious target because of the value of the race. He has done it well and the idea would be to go for something like the Dante and see how we get on there.”

The Lope De Vega colt out of Dazzle Dancer cost 650,000gns as a yearling when purchased by John Ferguson from leading Irish consignors Ballylinch Stud.

The Tattersalls Millions race series has concluded with the running of the £200,000 Tattersalls Millions 3YO Trophy at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile Racecourse. Book 1 of the 2016 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale will take place October 4 – 6 and will feature the only yearlings eligible for the £25,000 Tattersalls October ‘Book 1 Bonus’ which offers a £25,000 bonus to any October Book 1 graduate who wins a qualifying 2YO maiden or novice race in Great Britain or an ‘Open’ 2YO Maiden in Ireland.
