Secret Brief, trained by Mark Johnston, battled on to win the nine runner £100,000 Tattersalls Millions Median Auction Trophy at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile Racecourse today, the second race of the 2014/15 £1.3 million Tattersalls Millions series.

The son of Shamardal was bought by John Ferguson from Airlie Stud at the 2013 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1. Secret Brief had previously run four times, winning impressively on his last start at Thirsk.

After the race Mark Johnston commented, “He had a bit to find on ratings but he’s done it well. We’ll see how he comes out of the race and then decide whether he will run again this year.”

Bossy Guest was second for Mick Channon, with Ballymore Castle for Richard Fahey in third.

There are two more races scheduled this year in the £1.3 million Tattersalls Millions series, both of which take place at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile on Saturday 4 October, with £800,000 prize money on offer.

Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, featuring the only yearlings eligible for next year’s £1.3 million Tattersalls Millions series takes place from 7 – 9 October.
