Tattersalls is to add to its race sponsorship portfolio by sponsoring the Group 3 Acomb Stakes at the forthcoming York Ebor Festival in August. The race will be named the 'Tattersalls Millions Acomb Stakes' and will take place on day 1 of the Knavesmire's premier meeting, Tuesday 21st August.
Commenting on the new sponsorship, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said;
"We have enjoyed a long association with York Racecourse through our sponsorship of the Group 3 Tattersalls Musidora and we are delighted to add the 'Tattersalls Millions' brand to such a prestigious two-year-old race. Not only is the Ebor Festival one of the highlights of the British racing calendar but the Acomb Stakes has produced some very high class horses over the years, many of which have been sold as yearlings at Tattersalls. In addition the timing of the 'Tattersalls Millions Acomb' fits very neatly with the publication of our October Yearling catalogue which features the all new £2,200,000 Tattersalls Millions sales race series."
Book 1 of the 2007 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, which takes place October 9th - 12th, sees the launch of the world's most valuable sales race series, the £2,200,000 Tattersalls Millions, which comprises the Tattersalls Million, the Tattersalls Fillies' 800 and the unique Tattersalls £400,000 3YO Trophy. The three races are open only to yearlings purchased from Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale. The last three Derby winners, AUTHORIZED, SIR PERCY and MOTIVATOR were all purchased at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.
