GRADE 3 WIN FOR TATTERSALLS GUINEAS BREEZE UP SALE GRADUATE SPORTING ART

SPORTING ART provided a timely reminder of the value to be found at the forthcoming Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up Sale (May 1-2) when landing the $400,000 Grade 3 Calder Derby at Calder Racecourse on Saturday for trainer Christophe Clement and owners Jon and Sarah Kelly. The son of DONERAILE COURT out of the RUN SOFTLY mare PLAYFUL RUN now has career earnings of $334,394 from his four victories from only seven starts.

Consigned to the 2007 Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up Sale by Willie Browne’s Mocklershill Stables, SPORTING ART was knocked down to English trainer Gary Moore for 45,000 guineas. Following two victories and close-up fourths in the Group 3 Sirenia Stakes and Listed Stardom Stakes, SPORTING ART was re-offered at the 2007 Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale where he was purchased by American agent Steve Young for 220,000 guineas.

SPORTING ART joins the Listed winning and Grade 2 placed YANKEE BRAVO, a 16,500 guineas purchase, as one of four Group/Listed placed horses to have come out of last year ’s inaugural sale.

The ‘breezes’ for the sale will be shown live on Racing UK (Sky Channel 432, Virgin Media Channel 536) at 9am on May 1 whilst replays of the individual breezes will be posted on the Tattersalls website shortly after.
