SHALAA confirmed his status as the leading juvenile in Europe with a sublime victory in the Group 1 Prix Morny at Deauville. Al Shaqab’s son of INVINCIBLE SPIRIT was winning his fourth race in succession for trainer John Gosden, following victories in the Group 2 July Stakes and the Group 2 Richmond Stakes. Jockey Frankie Dettori, who never had a moment’s worry in the Group 1 contest proclaimed that SHALAA was “the best two-year-old I’ve ridden”.

SHALAA was purchased at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale by agent Charlie Gordon-Watson for 170,000 guineas from the draft of Clairemont Stud, having been purchased at the 2013 Tattersalls December Foal Sale by Liam Norris and William Huntingdon for 100,000 guineas from Castlefarm Stud.

SHALAA is one of six Group winning two-year-olds in Europe this year bought at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, triple the number at any other European yearling sale.

Clairemont Stud will offer two yearlings at October Book 1 this year including a filly by INVINCIBLE SPIRIT who has 26 yearlings catalogued in Book 1 and seven in Book 2 of the October Yearling Sale.

Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale takes place October 6 – 8 and will feature the only yearlings eligible for the all-new £25,000 Tattersalls October ‘Book 1 Bonus’ which offers a £25,000 bonus to any two-year-old graduate who wins a Class 2, 3 or 4 Maiden in Great Britain or an ‘Open’ Maiden in Ireland.
