The outstanding two-year-old filly DIFFERENT LEAGUE is another headline act on course for the 2017 Tattersalls December Mare Sale, which also features the Ballymacoll Dispersal and takes place December 4th - 7th.

Owned by Theresa Marnane and trained in Maisons-Laffitte in France by Matthieu Palussiere, DIFFERENT LEAGUE emerged as one of the best two-year-old fillies in Europe when landing the Group 3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot making nearly all to beat hot favourite ALPHA CENTAURI, with subsequent Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner CLEMMIE also behind her. The winner of the first three of her five starts to date, DIFFERENT LEAGUE subsequently confirmed her class with two Group 1 placings in the Prix Morny and Cheveley Park Stakes. Taking on the colts in the Group 1 Prix Morny, DIFFERENT LEAGUE was a fast finishing third behind the Karl Burke trained UNFORTUNATELY, before producing another top class performance when second to current 2018 1000 Guineas favourite CLEMMIE in the Group 1 Cheveley Park.

A winner on good to firm going and also proven on good to soft ground, DIFFERENT LEAGUE is by French based sire sensation DABIRSIM out of the winning DANEHILL DANCER mare DANSEUSE CORSE, from the direct family of Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes winner CARROWKEEL. Currently officially rated 110 (French rating of 50), only one point behind France’s top rated two-year-old fillies MISSION IMPASSIBLE and POLYDREAM, the French-bred DIFFERENT LEAGUE will be the highest rated two-year-old filly to be offered at the Tattersalls December Sale this century and will be consigned by Con and Theresa Marnane’s daughter Amy Marnane.

Commenting on DIFFERENT LEAGUE, Con Marnane said;

"Her name says it all. DIFFERENT LEAGUE has been an absolute revelation. She has reached the heights that only Olympic winning athletes can aspire to. Her win at Royal Ascot under a hand ride from Antoine Hamelin was truly breathtaking. She has all the credentials to continue at the highest level next year and beyond. A Royal Ascot winning dual Gr.1 placed 2YO filly from only 5 starts. She is a quality, big, scopey filly oozing class with a temperament to die for; an obvious contender for next year’s 1000 Guineas, and because of her French Owners Premiums, also the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches. Either way, she is a genuine Classic prospect and has been a pleasure to be around since the moment she came into our lives. You couldn’t write the script of the adventure DIFFERENT LEAGUE has brought us on."

Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony added;

“The Marnane family have campaigned DIFFERENT LEAGUE impeccably and she is without doubt one of the most exciting two-year-olds to be offered at the Tattersalls December Sale for a very long time. Genuine Group 1 two-year-olds seldom appear at public auction and DIFFERENT LEAGUE is a rare opportunity for buyers to acquire a serious contender for 2018 Classic honours.”

The Tattersalls December Mares Sale, featuring the final instalment of the Ballymacoll Stud Dispersal, takes place Monday 4th December to Thursday 7th December and the catalogue can be viewed online later this week.
