The Aidan O’Brien trained PEDRO THE GREAT provided another great advertisement for Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale when taking out the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes at The Curragh on Sunday. His win was the twelfth European Classic/Group 1 success in 2012 by a graduate from October 1, eleven more than any other GB/IRE/FR yearling sale.

PEDRO THE GREAT was consigned to Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale by Anthony Oppenheimer’s Hascombe & Valiant Stud where he was knocked down to John Magnier for 150,000 guineas. The HENRYTHENAVIGATOR colt out of the RAINBOW QUEST mare GLATISANT is a half-brother to the 2000 Guineas winner FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND and to FRAPPE, the dam of this year’s Irish 1000 Guineas winner POWER.

PEDRO THE GREAT earned quotes as short as 20-1 to emulate his stablemate and fellow October 1 graduate CAMELOT by winning the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket.

Hascombe & Valiant Stud will offer a select group of six yearlings at Book 1 this year whilst there are 8 yearlings by HENRYTHENAVIGATOR.

The catalogue for Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, which features the only yearlings eligible for the Tattersalls Millions, is available online now at www.tattersalls.com and will be available from Tattersalls and Tattersalls representatives from Monday, August 20.
