SUDDEN WONDER battled to keep his head in front in an exhilarating finish to win the £200,000 Tattersalls Millions 3-Y-O Trophy at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile Racecourse today, the last race of the 2013/14 £1.3m Tattersalls Millions series.

The son of New Approach was bought by John Ferguson from Hillwood Stud at the 2012 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1. SUDDEN WONDER had previously raced three times winning a Conditions race at Newmarket last time out in October and is now as short as 20/1 for the Investec Derby.

After the race Charlie Appleby commented, “The horse had a nice two-year-old profile going into his three-year-old career having won here very impressively in the autumn and he’s a fine big strong horse who can only improve. This race has given him some good experience mentally and Mickael (Barzalona) gave him a great ride. He’s a nice middle distance type who we are looking forward to for the rest of the season. He’s entered in the Dante but we will see how he comes out of the race and go from there.”

OBSERVATIONAL, who is as short as 28/1 for the Investec Derby, was second for Roger Chalton with the William Haggas trained SEAGULL STAR in third.
