A strong draft numbering in excess of 60 from Sheikh Mohammed’s Darley operation heads an exciting catalogue for the 2015 Tattersalls February Sale. The Newmarket-based nursery will offer 41 lots from their own draft and a further 22 lots from various trainers including John Gosden and Roger Varian. Europe’s premier midwinter sale takes place Thursday 5th February and the catalogue can now be viewed online at www.tattersalls.com. In total the catalogue numbers 307 lots and comprises broodmares, fillies/horses in training, weanlings and two-year-olds.

Amongst the eyecatching lots from Darley are the three-year-old SHAMARDAL filly ELLE SHADE, a daughter of the triple Group 1 winner ELLE DANZIG, herself the dam of six black-type performers, the Group-placed mare NASEEM SEA, covered by HELMET, TWO PASS, a daughter of Champion filly PASS THE PEACE and half-sister to Group 1 winner EMBASSY, in foal to DREAM AHEAD and STORMING SIOUX, a half-sister to Group 1 winner BEST OF THE BESTS, in foal to Group 1 winner FARHH.

Any draft from Prince Khalid Abdullah’s Juddmonte Farms attracts the interest of breeders throughout the world and the Tattersalls February Sale features a consignment of 15 lots made up of seven fillies and mares and eight colts and geldings. Amongst the fillies on offer are close relations to DANEHILL, ZAFONIC and ZAMINDAR whilst the mares include POSTALE carrying a CACIQUE three-parts relation to Group 1 Prix Jean Prat winner MUTUAL TRUST, and WINTER BLOOM, the half-sister to the four-times Group 1 placed PHOENIX TOWER, in foal to CHAMPS ELYSEES.

The progeny of fillies and mares bought at the Tattersalls February Sale enjoyed a stellar year on the racecourse in 2014 led by the Group 1 Fillies’ Mile winner TOGETHER FOREVER whose dam GREEN ROOM was bought from the Juddmonte draft in 2005 for just 20,000 guineas, and Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner TIGGY WIGGY whose dam KHELEYF’S SILVER was bought in 2010 for 15,000 guineas. This year’s catalogue features mares in foal to proven top sires CACIQUE, CHAMPS ELYSEES, LOPE DE VEGA, SHOWCASING and ZEBEDEE, as well as promising Group 1 winning young sires FARHH and HELMET, all of whom look set to attract breeders from throughout Europe and further afield.

Grade 1 Beverley D Stakes winner EURO CHARLINE was purchased at the 2012 Tattersalls February Sale as a weanling for just 800 guineas and pinhookers look equally well catered for with a diverse selection of weanlings by proven Group sires including CLODOVIL, DANDY MAN, KODIAC and SIR PERCY as well as by first crop sires HARBOUR WATCH and POWER.

The Tattersalls February Sale has also established a reputation as a consistent source of high class horses in training including 2013 US Listed winner STREET SECRET a 48,000 guineas February purchase, and the Listed winner SWEET BABY JANE purchased for just 800 guineas in 2010. Amongst those horses in training that look certain to attract attention is the John Gosden trained four-year-old MAVERICK WAVE, who is a three-time winner and rated 102, the Listed winner EINSTEINS FOLLY and the promising three-year-olds KAUFMANN, PERCY ALLELINE and WESTWOOD HOE.

Commenting on the 2015 Tattersalls February Sale, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said;

"The Tattersalls February Sale has been a great source of quality breeding stock in it’s short history, illustrated perfectly by the Group 1 success of TOGETHER FOREVER and TIGGY WIGGY in 2014. This year’s renewal looks a typically commercial catalogue with plenty to attract both domestic and international buyers to Park Paddocks. As usual the sale will be preceded by the ever popular TBA Stallion Parade which starts at 10.00am followed immediately by the sale.”

The catalogue can be viewed online at www.tattersalls.com and is available from Tattersalls and all Tattersalls overseas representatives from Monday, 19th January.
