SUDIRMAN gave owners Mrs Fitri Hay and Mrs John Magnier a memorable victory in the first European Group 1 two-year-old race of the season, the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes at The Curragh. In beating the KHELEYF colt BIG TIME, the son of HENRYTHENAVIGATOR broke the 2yo track record and ran the second fastest ever time at The Curragh for trainer David Wachman. SUDIRMAN was purchased at Book 1 of the 2012 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale for 200,000 guineas by John Warren where he was consigned by Ballylinch Stud and behalf of breeders Kathryn Nikkel & Jeanne Canty.

The victory of SUDIRMAN continued the domination by Tattersalls graduates of European two-year-old Group races, with eleven successes so far this year, eight more than any other sales company.  They have included the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes winner RIZEENA, the Group 2 July Stakes winner ANJAAL, the Group 2 Cherry Hinton Stakes winner LUCKY KRISTALE, the Group 2 Richmond Stakes winner SAAYERR and the Group 3 Albany Stakes winner KIYOSHI. All are graduates of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.

The victory of SUDIRMAN also provided a timely update for his own-brother who is catalogued as lot 145 at the forthcoming Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1. By HENRYTHENAVIGATOR out of the DESERT STYLE mare SHERMEEN, the colt is one of a draft of ten yearlings catalogued from John O’Connor’s Ballylinch Stud.

The Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1, Europe’s premier yearling sale, takes place from October 8 – 10 and numbers 513 yearlings. Catalogues are online now at www.tattersalls.com and will be available from Tattersalls and Tattersalls Representatives from Monday, August 19.
