Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1 purchases enjoyed a memorable Grade 1 double at Woodbine yesterday with DESERT ENCOUNTER winning the Canadian International and SHEIKHA REIKA scoring in the EP Taylor Stakes.  

The David Simcock-trained DESERT ENCOUNTER led home a Tattersalls one-two when he defeated Craven Breeze Up purchase THUNDERING BLUE in the Canadian International with the British raiders 4 ½ lengths ahead of their rivals. The son of HALLING was purchased at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale for just 32,000 guineas by Rabbah Bloodstock from the draft of Tally-Ho Stud. The Co. Westmeath nursery offer a SLADE POWER half-sister as lot 1199 at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale which begins on Monday, October 15.

The Roger Varian-trained SHEIKHA REIKA made it a quick-fire Tattersalls Book 1 double when she ran on an impressive winner of the Grade 1 EP Taylor Stakes. The daughter of SHAMARDAL has made rapid progress in the last month, winning a Listed race at Yarmouth on her most recent appearance, and looks an exciting prospect for owner Sheikh Mohammed Obaid. SHEIKHA REIKA, who is a sister to the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner LUMIERE was purchased at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale for 550,000 guineas from the draft of Grove Stud. 

Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale starts on Monday, October 15that 10am and runs until Wednesday, October 17th.
