Tattersalls October Yearling Sale dominates Royal Ascot with Ten Winners

The Tattersalls October Yearling Sale was the source of ten Royal Ascot winners including five at Group 1 level. Europe’s leading bloodstock auctioneers were also the only source of 2018 Royal Ascot winners at auction in Britain and Ireland.

Heading the quintet of Group 1 winners were King’s Stand Stakes winner BLUE POINT who was purchased by John Ferguson Bloodstock for 200,000 guineas at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale which was also the source of St James’s Palace Stakes winner WITHOUT PAROLE and Gold Cup winner STRADIVARIUS. The Prince of Wales’s Stakes winner POET’S WORD, who upset the odds-on favourite CRACKSMAN, was purchased at Book 2 of the October Yearling Sale by Charlie Gordon-Watson for 300,000 guineas whilst the Queen Anne Stakes winner ACCIDENTAL AGENT was sourced from Book 3 of the October Yearling Sale. 

Tattersalls October Yearling Sale graduates also dominated the two-year-old races with Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes winner SIGNORA CABELLO bought for just 20,000 guineas at Book 2 by Richard Knight Bloodstock & Sean Quinn. The Group 3 Albany Stakes winner MAIN EDITION, a recent winner of a £25,000 October Book 1 Bonus, was purchased at Book 1 for just 62,000 guineas by trainer Mark Johnston whilst Joe Foley bought the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes winner SOLDIER’S CALL for 85,000 guineas at Book 2. 

The other two Tattersalls October Yearling Sale graduates to score were the Wokingham Stakes winner BACCHUS who was purchased by Sam Sangster Bloodstock for 24,000 guineas at Book 2 whilst Queen Alexandra Stakes winner PALLASATOR was purchased by Sir Mark Prescott for just 32,000 guineas at the same sale. 

The Tattersalls December Mare Sale was also the source of two Group 1 winners during Royal Ascot week, with Gold Cup winner STRADIVARIUS out of PRIVATE LIFE who was purchased by Blandford Bloodstock for 70,000 guineas whilst SCARLETT ROSE, the dam of the King’s Stand Stakes winner BLUE POINT was purchased at the December Mare Sale for 50,000 guineas by John Walsh Bloodstock. 

The next sale at Tattersalls is the July Sale which features six GALILEO yearlings and takes place from July 11 – 13.
