The catalogues for Books 2, 3 and 4 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale are online now and can be viewed at www.tattersalls.com.  Book 2 features 774 yearlings and will take place October 10-12 whilst Book 3 has 474 lots catalogued and will take place October 13-14.  Book 4 will follow on immediately after Book 3 on October 14 and features 85 yearlings.

Dual Group 2 winning juvenile MEHMAS has been a good flag bearer for Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, adding the Group 2 Richmond Stakes during the Qatar Goodwood Festival to his victory in the Group 2 July Stakes at Newmarket just three weeks earlier.  The son of ACCLAMATION was consigned by Croom House Stud at last year’s renewal and bought for 62,000 guineas by Church Farm.  Fellow Glorious Goodwood winners in 2016 from the sale include the Group 3 Lillie Langtry Stakes winner CALIFORNIA, bought for 75,000 guineas, as well as the Group 3 Thoroughbred Stakes winner THIKRIYAAT, bought for 70,000 guineas.

Group 1 winning bargain buy MECCA’S ANGEL continues to be a great advert for the sale, adding the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes at The Curragh to a tally of Group wins at three and four, including the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes at York last year.  The daughter of DARK ANGEL was bought for just 16,000 guineas from Book 2 in 2013.  Another daughter of DARK ANGEL to add to the success stories from Book 2 is exciting two-year-old NATIONS ALEXANDER.  The grey filly won the Group 3 Sweet Solera Stakes at Newmarket and was bought for 50,000 guineas at last year’s sale.

DARK ANGEL is well represented in this year’s Book 2 catalogue with 17 yearlings to be offered, alongside seventeen fellow members of the current top 20 sires in GB/Ire that also have lots catalogued.  Leading the way numerically is MASTERCRAFTSMAN with 33, then KODIAC with 32 and ACCLAMATION with 29.  Progeny from many of this year’s first crop sires also feature, including CAMELOT (17), DAWN APPROACH (10), DECLARATION OF WAR (16), INTELLO (17) and LETHAL FORCE (19).

Books 3 and 4 of the October Yearling Sale feature the only yearlings eligible for the £150,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes won last year by POET’S PRIZE, bought by Harrowgate Bloodstock for 22,000 guineas.

Catalogues for Books 1-4 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale are online now and will be available from Tattersalls or Tattersalls representatives from the end of next week.
