Alice Springs Winning the G1 Sun Chariot Stakes

ALICE SPRINGS’ win in the Group 1 Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket provided  a timely reminder of the quality on offer at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale on the eve of the Europe’s premier yearling sale. The Aidan O’Brien-trained filly was winning her third Group 1 for the season following on from victories in the Group 1 Matron Stakes and Group 1 Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes.

The daughter of GALILEO out of the DANEHILL DANCER mare ALEAGUEOFTHEIROWN was purchased at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale by MV Magnier for 550,000 guineas from the draft of Glenvale Stud. That nursery has an own sister catalogued at next week’s sale as lot 441 and is one of 21 yearlings catalogued by the seven-time Champion sire.

Roger Charlton was also celebrating Group 1 success following the victory of QUEST FOR MORE in the Prix du Cadran at Chantilly. The son of TEOFILO was purchased at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale by Charlie Gordon-Watson for 58,000 guineas from the draft of Denis Brosnan’s Croom House Stud.

It was a memorable day for Gordon-Watson who was celebrating again following the game victory by SHALAA in the Group 3 Bengough Stakes. Last season’s Champion 2YO was having his first run for the season and will now head for the Group 1 Champion Sprint at Ascot on Champions Day. SHALAA was purchased at Book 1 of the October Yearling Sale by Gordon-Watson for 170,000 guineas from Liam and Jenny Norris’ Clairemont Stud who offer a HIGH CHAPARRAL half-sister at this year’s renewal.

Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, featuring the £25,000 October Book 1 Bonus takes place Tuesday, October 4 – Thursday, October 6.
