Lively trade on the third day of the Tattersalls December Foal Sale with action from a number of International purchasers saw a total of 16 lots realise 200,000 guineas or more including a filly by DANSILI that achieved the highest price of the day when selling for 600,000 guineas. A total of 185 lots made 16,768,000 guineas at an average of 90,638 guineas and a median of 65,000 guineas.  The clearance rate was a strong 84%.

It was the DANSILI daughter of Group 3 St Simon Stakes winner HIGH HEELED that topped proceedings on the third day of the Tattersalls December Foal Sale when knocked down to Peter Doyle on behalf of Markus Jooste’s Mayfair Speculators and MV Magnier for 600,000 guineas.

The March-born filly was consigned by James Wigan’s West Blagdon Stud and is a full sister to Listed winner in Germany PABOUCHE.  From the family of dual Group 1 winner JUST THE JUDGE, HIGH HEELED was also responsible for last year’s sale-topper when her filly by DUBAWI sold to John Ferguson for 800,000 guineas.

Doyle commented after the sale:

"She is a princess.  She is a great walking filly and has a lovely pedigree - all options are open."

DUBAWI was responsible for the top two lots at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale and his popularity continued at the December Foal Sale where his son out of GALILEO mare SNOWGAL achieved the second highest price of the day when selling to Jamie McCalmont for 500,000 guineas.

Offered for sale by Airlie Stud, the April-born foal is out of a half-sister to Champion two-year-old in Ireland PRESELI, as well as, Black-type winners KONG and MOUNT KILAMANJARO and hails from the family of multiple US Group 1 winner WHITE STAR LINE.

"He is for US owner and breeder Jon Kelly," said McCalmont. "The colt might come back for resale or go into training. The colt is by Dubawi and out of a Galileo mare with a champion in the family - what is not to like!"

A packed sales ring did not have to wait long for more fireworks as the next lot into the ring, the SEA THE STARS son of SOMETHING MON, sold to John Ferguson for 375,000 guineas.

Offered by Yellowford Stud on behalf of Brian Gleeson, the bay colt is a half-sister to Group 3 Oh So Sharp Stakes winner RAYMI COYA from the family of US Group 1 winner TRY SOMETHING NEW.

Gleeson, who sadly lost the mare Something Mon in the foaling of this colt, commented:

"She was a great mare and there is lots going on in the family - the full brother Big Challenge was very impressive winning his maiden for Saeed (Bin Suroor) and Godolphin - they have come back again. We owe the foster mare a big thank you!"

"I loved Sea The Stars as a racehorse, I was a big fan - and the cross just works."

Ferguson said:

"We are very pleased to buy him, we do think his full-brother Big Challenge is above average."

John Ferguson, who has bought a total of 12 foals for 2,150,000 guineas at the December Foal Sale so far, stretched to 375,000 guineas once again but this time for a son of Darley sire SHAMARDAL.

Consigned by Kenilworth House Stud, the chesnut colt is out of dual Group 1 winner LA COLLINA whose filly by DUBAWI caught the eye of Ferguson at last year’s sale where he bought her for 625,000 guineas.

Ferguson commented on his purchase:

"The Dubawi filly has done very well from a foal to a yearling and we are very pleased with her. This is a lovely colt by Shamardal."

The Tattersalls December Foal Sale continues at 9.30am on Saturday, November 26.
