Daughter of Farhh Tops Second Day of Tattersalls October Book 3
A filly by promising stallion FARHH topped proceedings on the second day of Book 3 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale at 110,000 guineas. The second day saw a total of 156 lots realise 1,792,700 guineas, a rise of 28% on last year’s corresponding session at an average of 11,492 guineas and a median of 7,500 guineas.
As a racehorse the Godolphin-owned FAHRR competed with the best, winning the Group 1 Lockinge Stakes and Group 1 Champion Stakes and twice finishing second to the legendary FRANKEL at Group 1 level. His second career in the stallion barn at Dalham Hall Stud has started with equal promise, with the Group 3 Tattersalls Acomb Stakes winner WELLS FARHH GO, the Listed winner FA UL SCIUR and the Listed-placed DEE EX BEE amongst his first runners this year.
As a result, it is no surprise that his second crop of yearlings have been in such great demand this autumn with the 8 lots sold so far at this year’s October Yearling Sale realising 790,000 guineas at an average of 98,750 guineas. Leading the way on the second day of Book 3 was lot 1732, the bay filly out of the RAINBOW QUEST mare PURPLE TIGER who was knocked down to Joe Foley for 110,000 guineas.
Consigned to the sale by Barton Stud, their stud manager Tom Blain commented: "She was bred by Rabbah and has just flourished since we’ve had her. She is a gorgeous filly.
"I am a big fan of Farhh - we have a few at home and they are all lovely horses."
Joe Foley added: "She is by an exciting young sire, she is gorgeous filly and I was surprised to see her here today."
The second highest price on the second day and for the October 3 Sale so far was the 90,000 guineas given by Amanda Skiffington for the MUKHADRAM colt out of the DALAKHANI mare SKYRIDER. The colt, who was consigned by Jane Keir’s Elkington Stud, was knocked down to Skiffington after she outpointed Matt Coleman, stood with Tally-Ho Stud’s Roger O’Callaghan, and will go into training with Roger Charlton.
The colt is from the first crop of Group 1 Eclipse Stakes winner MUKHADRAM, out of the own-sister to Group 3 winner GOTHIC DANCE and from the family of Group 1/Classic winners TANTE ROSE, DUBAWI HEIGHTS and MAKE BELIEVE.
"I have eight mares, and bought Skyrider at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale with agent Charlie Gordon-Watson," said Keir. "I think Mukhadram is a very good sire and I wanted to the mare to see a stallion with some size."
SKYRIDER cost Keir, who is a senior partner in the legal firm Kingsley Napley, 6,000 guineas at the Tattersalls December Sale.
"Everyone who came to see him was captivated by the colt," she said, adding: "This is definitely our best sale result."
The third day of Book 3 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale starts at 9.30am on Saturday, October 14.
