PRINCESSE DANSANTE looked one of the standout lots on the second day with an outstanding pedigree and looks to match and there was no shortage of interested parties including Andreas Putsch, Cathy Grassick, Seamus Burns and Charlie Gordon-Watson but as the price rose past 1,000,000 guineas, it was Barronstown Stud’s David Nagle who took up the running, but when Darley’s John Ferguson responded, Nagle left it to Ashtown House Stud’s Paul Shanahan to continue. Ferguson and Shanahan went head to head, but with the price at 1,700,000 guineas it was Shanahan who waved the white flag. PRINCESSE DANSANTE is a Listed winner and Group 2 placed as well as being a half-sister to the dams of the Group 1 Derby winner AUTHORIZED, the Group 1 Grand Criterium winner OKAWANGO and Group 1 runners-up PROSPECT WELLS and PROSPECT PARK. She was consigned to the sale by Bill and Tara Dwan’s The Castlebridge Consignment and offered with a covering to Juddmonte Farms’ star stallion DANSILI. Ferguson indicated that the daughter of KING’S BEST would visit TEOFILO, Darley’s Group 1 winning son of GALILEO.

There are few better pedigree’s in the stud book than that carried by the SEEKING THE GOLD mare REFLECTIVE who is out of the legendary RIVERMAN mare KORVEYA, dam of the Champions HECTOR PROTECTOR and BOSRA SHAM and the Group 1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains winner SHANGHAI. The five-year-old REFLECTIVE was consigned by agent John Troy on behalf of Richard Santulli’s Colts Neck Stables in North America and offered with a cover to MONTJEU, sire of the recent Derby winners AUTHORIZED and MOTIVATOR. REFLECTIVE was knocked down to Anthony Stroud for 550,000 guineas after he saw off the efforts of Northern Farms’ Shunsuke Yoshida.
