Dual-Derby winner MONTJEU has had a sensational start to his stud career with the Derby winners MOTIVATOR and HURRICANE RUN amongst his first crop, and so it was no surprise to see AMIZETTE, who was offered with a MONTJEU colt foal at foot, top proceeding's on the opening day. The FORTY NINER own-sister to successful sire TWINING out of the legendary American broodmare COURTLY DEE, herself the dam of fifteen winners including eight Graded Stakes winners. Consigned from Islanmore Stud in Ireland, AMIZETTE was offered in foal to two-time Group 1 winning two-year-old and Champion three-year-old sprinter ONE COOL CAT and interest in the package came intially from Allan Bloodlines' Natalie Davis and Hubie De Burgh of DeBurgh/Farrington as the price rose steadily towards six figures. With De Burgh conceding defeat with his final of 105,000 guineas, it was left to the Irish-based bloodstock agents John McCormack and John O'Byrne to battle it out with O'Byrne victorious at 150,000 guineas.

The second highest price of the day was the 100,000 guineas given by bloodstock agent Richard Frisby for the two-year-old SADLER'S WELLS filly COSTA BRAVA. Consigned by John Troy, the filly is an own-sister to ACROPOLIS, the Listed winning and Group 1 placed colt who also finished fourth in last year's Group 1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Out of the mare DEDICATED LADY, COSTA BRAVA also numbers the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes winner FAIRY QUEEN and Group 2 Falmouth Stakes winner TASHAWAK amongst her siblings. Interest in the filly was widespread with Oliver Gaisford-St Lawrence of McKeever St Lawrence and Gordian Troeller making the early running along with the Curragh Bloodstock Agency's Eamonn Reilly, but none were able to counter the six-figure sum bid by the Newmarket-based bloodstock agent Richard Frisby.
