As has been the case so far this week, it was yearling's by Coolmore Stud stallions who dominated the top end of the market with sons of DANEHILL, GIANT'S CAUSEWAY and MONTJEU bringing the three highest prices of the day. The top priced lot came late in the evening when Lot 528, a son of MONTJEU and a half brother to the Group 2 German St Leger winner MOONLADY and German Oaks runner-up MIDNIGHT ANGEL realised 320,000 guineas. Out of the SURE BLADE mare MIDNIGHT FEVER, the German bred colt was consigned from Peter Kavanagh's Kildaragh Stud and fell to a final bid from bloodstock agent Anthony Stroud after a protracted bidding duel with clients of Newmarket trainer Jeremy Noseda. MONTJEU has made an auspicious start to his career at stud with several notable performers in his first crop including the Listed winner KING'S QUAY, Group 1 Fillies' Mile third DASH TO THE TOP and MOTIVATOR, one of the leading contenders for the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy. Stroud indicated that the colt was purchased on behalf of Sheikh Mohammed's son, Sheikh Rashid.

Another stallion to make an immediate impact with his first crop of two year olds is the six time Group 1 winner GIANT'S CAUSEWAY. Lot 507, a chesnut colt out of the Australian bred DANEHILL mare LANGOUSTINE fell to the bid of Charlie Gordon-Watson for 300,000 guineas on behalf of owner Martin Myers. Gordon-Watson indicated that the colt would go into training with Roger Charlton at his Beckhampton Stables. The Listed winner LANGOUSTINE is an own sister to the Group 3 winning filly ONE WORLD and is out of PRAWN COCKTAIL, the half sister to Champion and Breeders' Cup Mile winner ROYAL ACADEMY and to the Grade 2 winner TERLINGUA, who is the dam of Champion sire STORM CAT.

Demand for progeny by the deceased stallion DANEHILL continued unabated with Lot 438, a colt out of the MACHIAVELLIAN mare DANCING MIRAGE who was the third yearling to make 300,000 guineas or more. Consigned from Lady Carolyn Warren's Highclere Stud, demand for the colt from the family of Hong Kong champion HOUSEMASTER once again settled down to a duel between Sheikh Mohammed 's representative John Ferguson and the Coolmore pair of John Magnier and Demi O'Byrne. It was O'Byrne who made the final bid of 310,000 guineas, taking the number of DANEHILL's that he has purchased this week to seven.
