The top price for the day was the 130,000 guineas paid for lot 916, the AGNES WORLD colt out of the winning PHARLY mare CRIME OFTHECENTURY. Consigned from Chris Wright's Stratford Place Stud, the colt saw strong interest from Lambourn based trainer Jamie Osborne before Newmarket based trainer Michael Jarvis made the winning bid. The colt is from the first crop of the Group 1 July Cup winner AGNES WORLD who raced in Japan before Group 1 wins in England and France where he captured the Prix de l'Abbaye. The son of DANZIG has his first crop racing in Japan this year and has made a bright start with 8 winners from his first twelve runners. He is currently standing at Shadai Farm in Japan following two seasons at Dalham Hall Stud outside Newmarket. CRIME OFTHECENTURY has already produced three stakes horses with the winners MYSTIC SALSE, SENIOR MINISTER and MALTESE FALCON all placed at Listed level. Jarvis indicated that the colt was purchased for an existing owner and will be trained at his Kremlin House Stables in Newmarket.
Nine lots later, Lot 925, a bay filly by CAPE CROSS out of DANCING
FEATHER became the second lot to break the six figure barrier when
Hesmonds Stud Director Valerie Griffiths bid 120,000 guineas to land
the well bred filly. Consigned from Bob and Jeanette McCreery's Stowell
Hill Stud, the half sister to the Listed placed FEATHERS FLYING comes
from the family of Group 1 winner FRAGRANT MIX and Group winners
ENGLISH SPRING and SPRING OAK. Her sire CAPE CROSS has had a sensational
start to his career at stud with English and Irish Oaks winner OUIJA
BOARD amongst his eleven Group/Listed winners from his first two
crops of racing age. Darley Stud's John Ferguson was underbidder
for the filly who was consigned by Stowell Hill Stud on behalf of
Jeremy Gompertz.
Lot 1060, a bay filly by DANSILI out of the STATOBLEST mare PIZZICATO
was the third lot to break six figures when knocked down to agent
Amanda Skiffington for 100,000 guineas after a determined effort
from trainer James Given who had trained her half sister WUNDERS
DREAM to success in the Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes. The filly
was consigned from Paul and Sara Thorman's Trickledown Stud whose
also enjoyed a successful Part 1 of the October Yearling Sale where
they sold the sale topping DANEHILL colt for 1,150,000 guineas.
