The progeny of Rathbarry Stud's resident stallion ACCLAMATION have been in great demand over the two weeks of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale following the exploits of his first runners this year headed by the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes winner DARK ANGEL and the stakes winners CAKE, PENCIL HILL and SWEEPSTAKE. Lot 1873, the bay colt by ACCLAMATION out of the BE MY CHIEF mare BE MY WISH attracted interest from Bansha House Stables' Con Marnane and Anthony Stroud Bloodstock's Matt Coleman, before agents Charles Gordon-Watson and Amanda Skiffington took up the running. Gordon-Watson has not been beaten too often over the preceeding two weeks, but had to settle for second best when Skiffington raised the stakes to 72,000 guineas. Skiffington indicated that the colt, consigned from Joe Reid's Shinglis Stud in Ireland, would go to trainer Roger Charlton at his Beckhampton House Stables in Marlborough.
Earlier in the evening Yorkshire based agent Gill Richardson signed for lot 1820, the EFISIO filly out of the PIVOTAL mare TARA MOON for 62,000 guineas. The half-sister to the three time winner LADY GLORIA received a considerable catalogue update when that filly was second in the Listed Rosemary Stakes at Ascot last month for trainer James Given. It was therefore no surprise to see Given going head to head with Richardson in an attempt to secure the Sussex Stud consigned filly, but he was to finish second best when declining to increase Richardson's bid of 62,000 guineas. It has been a busy two weeks for Richardson at Tattersalls, signing for twelve yearlings for 986,000 guineas during Book 1, eighteen for 705,000 guineas during Book 2 and twelve for 240,500 guineas so far in Book 3.
