"He is a very strong horse, ideal for Saudi, he vetted clean and well, and he fitted the bill for the order," said Harper after spending 60,000gns on the Kodiac three-year-old, a winner last time out over a mile at Kempton on August 21.

Consigned by The Castlebridge Consignment, the gelding is a three-time winner and rated 92. He has been owned by Teme Valley Racing and trained by George Boughey. (15:16)

"There is the option to drop him down in trip, he has a lot of speed and he has been bought for a friend in the yard. We will be put the horse away now and we will aim for some big races next year."

Tourist has run 14 times, won twice and finished second or third eight times, picking up over £33,800 in prize-money. He has been trained this spring and summer by Hilal Kobeissi for Nibras Racing and won last time on August 24, that victory coming over 6f at Windsor and off a BHA rating of 78. (15:00)

The filly has run four times and is a two-time winner over an extended 7f and a mile, both wins coming on good to firm ground, first at Beverley and then Haydock.

"She goes to Saudi Arabia, she obviously won on her last start, we think she will be an ideal type for the Middle East, she goes on any surface and I think she will really enjoy the racing in the Middle East," said Burton. "She is unexposed and the fillies' programme in the region will suit her. I think we were willing to pay a little more, and I think she was a snip at that price."

Many readers won't be familiar with the Burton's name and that is with good reason – although he has bought at Tattersalls before, Burton is only 20 years of age.

He explained his early start to his career as a bloodstock agent.

"It is a new venture for me, I have been based with a couple of good people and was with trainer Adrian Keatley for a while, he taught me a lot and has been a really good mentor for me. I now do a lot of form work for Roger Fell and I have a few clients out in the Middle East, just building the portfolio and trying to get into things at a young age."

He added: "I met some contacts here at this sale last year, a trainer based in Kuwait, and I met a lot of contacts, his friends and family, through him. At that point, I had bought some horses for Roger and then met them at the same time, so all has come together and, touch wood, long may it continue."

Burton has also done some yearling shopping for Fell this autumn and says that he is "happy to buy any horse that the client is wanting, and I am open for business!"

The young man is looking forward to buying horses at the Tattersalls October Horses In Training Sale and finishes off with his sales pitch.

"That is my Derby, and I am looking forward to it," he said, continuing: "It is a big sale – plenty of horses, plenty of quality, and I will be here to buy for different people."

Burton Bloodstock and Nayef Ibn Ghayam also bought Natchitoches (Lot 129), a colt by Sioux Nation and a winner of two races in France. (14:59)

O'Keeffe signed on behalf of Clare Dolan at 80,000gns, the three-year-old colt, BHA rated 88, consigned by Baroda Stud on behalf of trainer Roger Varian and Opulence Thoroughbreds.

"He looks like he will be a nice horse for next year, his profile looks progressive, he has been bought for an owner and we are hoping he will be lucky," said O'Keeffe. "He has won on the Turf and the All-Weather and we think he can go on. He has come from a good yard, Roger's horses tend to keep progressing.

"It was a tad more than we had thought we'd need to spend, but when they have this sort of rating you have to go somewhere in that region." (14:24)

O'Dwyer added: "He has shown form on soft and looks a type to go jumping. All the right National Hunt buyers were on him, too."

By Sea The Stars, the three-year-old gelding is the winner of one and has been in training with James Ferguson. (14:09)

Rated 71, the three-year-old has yet to win but has been placed four times from six starts for owner breeder China Horse Club International Ltd. (13:15)

The two-year-old filly is out of Emirates Rewards (Dubawi), a half-sister to the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf winner Outstrip, who was also third in the Dewhurst Stakes (G1). She has a yearling filly by Ardad and a filly foal by Frankel.

Second dam is Asi Siempre, winner of the Spinster Stakes (G1). (12:35)

"Jonjo rang and asked to to give him a shout when we were doing doing the catalogue if we saw anything that could do a job hurdling, so we put this horse forward," explained Dixon. "He has obviously progressed nicely since Dan and Clare have had him on the Flat, he has got a winning hurdler in his pedigree, the only one who has tried it.

"Muhaarar has had a few good jumpers over the last year or so and he might be one of those who make a bit of an impact as a jumps stallion with the right type of horse; I do think he is a good and underrated stallion."

Dixon added: "He looks like the type of horse, he is not old, who could do well in novice hurdles and then go handicapping. Jonjo also did say that they are keen to have an odd horse who could run back on the Flat and this horse has got a high-enough Flat rating to get in some nice races." (12:21)

Liv My Life is a half-sister to the Listed Chesham Stakes-placed Pentle Bay (New Bay), who was bought for £400,000 in June by Richard Ryan and C Maneer Bloodstock, and to the three-time winner Sweet Betsy (Lawman).

Dam My Wish (Galileo) has a yearling by Supremacy, who is catalogued in October Book 1, and a colt foal by Naval Crown.

The three-year-old filly's last success came at Goodwood last September when successful in a 6f nursery off a mark of 74, her previous highest-winning rating being 76. (11:46)

She has won since the catalogue was published – successful at Newcastle on September 3 over 1m2f and off a BHA mark of 74 for trainer Grant Tuer. It is her highest winning mark for the four-time winner.

She is out of the Danehill Dancer mare Penny Rose and is a half-sister to the Hoppings Stakes (G3) fourth-placed Sweet Promise and a grand-daughter of the Group 3 winner Love Everlasting.

It is the further family of two-time Derby winner Shirley Heights and the two-time European champion filly Divine Proportions. (11:23)

The Saxon Warrior colt, who is out of the three-year-old winner Black Martini (Street Sense), a daughter of the US Listed-placed Christina D'Oro, was bought as a yearling by Edwards Pre Training for €6,000 last autumn. (10:26)

“The Tattersalls Somerville Yearling Sale has made huge progress in its four-year history with the inaugural one-day sale in 2021 producing turnover below five million guineas and an average price of 21,000 guineas. It is the second year in succession that a Havana Grey filly from Whitsbury Manor Stud has topped the Somerville Sale, last year's top lot being out of Harbour Watch mare Minoria.

It is a seventh lot bought by Elliott at this two-day sale and he said: "She was the stand-out filly for me over the two days, she could have been offered later in Book 2, but Ed [Harper] does an outstanding job and brought her here to stand out.

"I love the pedigree and I bought a horse called Study Up under the second dam in Book 3, 2022. He is with Clive Cox and he won his three-year-old maiden on his career debut – it is a pedigree that never misses.

"She is quite young so there is a lot of improvement to come to her, and she has a bit of length to her. She just has loads of quality and I loved her when I first saw her. I thought she was the one to get and, luckily, Kia [Joorabchian] thought the same."

Of her price, he said: "We had to take breeze up men out for a long way, her sister sold well at this year's Craven Sale when bought by William Muir, and after seeing what Havana Grey has brought at the breeze up sales this year I knew the breeze up men would be on her to a level; it was nice to buy for an end user."

He added: "The quality horses at a sale such as this shine through. It is not a select sale, and there are a few horses who could have been in different books, but people have brought them here to stand out and I think generally have been well rewarded for doing so."

This filly's dam Step Sister (Twilight Son) is a half-sister to the admirable Stepper Point, who won ten races, including the Sapphire Stakes (G2), the Flying Five Stakes (G3), the Hever Sprint Stakes (L), the Beverley Bullet Sprint (L) and the Criterium de Vitesse (L). He was also placed 17 times, the best result being Group 1 placings in the King's Stand Stakes and the Nunthorpe Stakes. (17:23)

Sold by Clearwater Stud, the February-born colt is out of the three-year-old winner Stay Forever (Harbour Watch) and from the family of of the King Edward VII Stakes winner Plea Bargain.

It is the top-class family of Time Charter, the champion older mare of 1983, ancestress of the champion two-year-old Best Terms, the Group 1-placed Time Away, the Group 1winner Cursory Glance and the Grade 1 winner Digital Age.

"I am a big fan of Space Blues, I think this horse is very athletic and he goes back to a really top class family," said Bell Snr. "Space Blues was a very tough and consistent horse, and as he was a speedy son of Dubawi he has every chance of making it. He looks very uncomplicated.

"I am hoping he is for an existing client but I need to make a couple of calls!" (17:04)

She is the second-highest priced by the sire sold over the two days and the highest-priced filly. (16:54)

The page boasts a lovely recent update courtesy of Anmaat (Awtaad), who won the Rose of Lancaster Stakes (G3) at Haydock in August his first racecourse start since his Prix d'Ispahan (G1) success in May 2023.

He holds entries in the Royal Bahrain Irish Champion Stakes (G1) in September and the Group 1 Ascot Qipco Champion Stakes (British Champions Middle Distance) in October. (16:23)

"They have obviously had great success with Arizona Blaze, who is from the first-crop of Sergei, and he is out of a Kingman mare. She has bred a Zoustar rated 96, the winner of two races as a two-year-old this year [Regal Gem].

"Matt Coleman was the underbidder and he said to me that the colt could have been at Book 1 horse, and physically I don't disagree, he is a very good model."

Elliott added: "It is a deep family – you have the current horses The Platinum Queen (Group 1 Prix de l'Abbaye winner as a juvenile) and Seagulls Eleven, runner-up in this year's Superlative Stakes (G2), under the third dam. This colt was liked by the whole team and Kia [Joorabchian] saw him yesterday with myself." (15:15)

This colt was also bred by Johnson Houghton out of the unraced mare Reprieval (Kendargent), but was owned until today by her mother Gaie.

"I tried to sell him as a foal and couldn't, Mum needed a colt foal to run with her colt so she bought him off me," reported Johnson Houghton, adding: "I thought he'd make 50,000gns, and he made 70,000gns so I am thrilled – he is just a real stocky horse."

Mohaather, of course, was also bred by Gaie Johnson Houghton and the son of Showcasing has been enjoying an excellent first-season with runners, the highlight, of course, being the Molecomb Stakes (G3) win by Big Mojo, a Tattersalls December Sale graduate.

She said: "I have one backward Mohaather, I tried to buy them but could not get near them. It has been great to see his progress this year."

Of breeding and racing Betty Clover, she smiled: "I never realised how much it would mean until she won her first race, and then I burst into tears and embarrassed myself. Then, when she won at York, I was at Newbury and the whole of the course knew as I was screaming her home, it was really embarrassing, too.

"But Betty has got better and better, she's done so well, she is so tough and runs this week in the Listed Dick Poole at Salisbury."

Of the mare's current status, Eve said: "Reprieval has got a lovely Kameko colt and is in-foal to Soldier's Call. I trained her and she did not get to a racecourse, so I ended up with her and literally bred her by mistake!" (15:02)

The January-born colt is a half-brother to a winner and his dam, the winner of ten races, is a half-sister to Coporal Maddox. He was a winner of 13 races, the best being victory in the Listed Woodcote Stakes (L). He was also placed an amazing 39 times, including in the Vintage Stakes (G3) and thePrix du Bois (G3).

Third dam Proud Lou was a joint champion filly in Canada in 1981 and dam of Houseproud, winner of the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (G1) and the Prix de la Grotte (G3), and a runner-up in the Prix Marcel Boussac (G1). (14:28)

He was sold by breeders Barry Kennedy and Anna Murphy of Rigsdale Stud, the breeders of the colt's four-year older half-sister, and the only lot offered at this year's sale by the stud.

It is a real two-year-old's family with the family tracing back to the capable third dam First Waltz, winner of the Prix Morny (G1) and second in the Cheveley Park Stakes (G1).

The sibling's dam Princess Pearl (Teofilo) has had three winners from three runners. (14:05)

Sold by Chasemore Farm, the farm's Andrew Black a one-time investor in the training business at Manor House Stables in Cheshire, the filly is a half-sister to Nashirah (Dubawi), who was a winner at Listed level in Germany,

The filly's second dam is Beauty Bright (Danehill), a Group 3 winner of the Renaissance Stakes (G3), third placed in the Lowther Stakes (G2) and a half-sister to the Racing PostTrophy (G1) runner-up Aloft. (13:54)

The Francesca and Charlie Poste team, alongside Blandford Bloodstock, is reinvesting today and spends 60,000gns on this filly by Havana Grey out of the unraced Fountain Of Youth mare Motsi Ma Boati.

She is a daughter of Golden Nun, winner of the Group 3 Ballyogan Stakes and from a long-standing Bearstone Stud-produced family, consignor of this filly. (13:14)

The half-brother to the fast filly Believing, who finished second last time out in the Nunthorpe Stakes (G1) having won the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes in July, was sold for 75,000gns, bought by Highflyer / Eve Johnson Houghton / Middleham Park.

The syndicate's man Tom Palin was on hand and in the sales' ring to discuss the purchase.

"I thought he was one of the stand-outs of the sale, he walks for fun and the page is there for all to see as he is a half-brother to a fantastic horse," he said, before quipping: "Seeing is Believing!"

Palin continued: "Obviously we have a big love affair with Inns Of Court with Ziggys Dream and The Strikin Viking – for us the sire can do no wrong. I think this colt is good value, and he could look cheap, and could look expensive, in 12 months' time!"

Of training plans he outlined: "He goes to Eve who can ready horses and is an exceptional trainer. We have one horse with Eve already, but she is a trainer we had on our radar for a long time and we have wanted to get the right horses to her."

Ziggy's Dream finished third last time out for Middleham in the Oak Tree Stakes (G3) and was a Listed winner earlier in the season in France for trainer Alice Haynes, while The Strikin Viking finished second in the Railway Stakes (G2) for Middleham, who subsequently sold the colt to Wathnan Racing, the colt collecting a runner-up spot in the August's Richmond Stakes (G2) at Goodwood. He is out of the unraced dam Millvina (Dutch Art), a half-sister to the Temple Stakes (G2) winner Priceless.

"He is for Valmont and Michael Blencowe," reported Elliott. "We set up the partnership last year and we actually run a horse tonight called West Acre, and we think a bit of him and is a hose we like.

"This horse was George Scott's pick of the day. We are delighted to get him, he has a very fast pedigree and comes from a very good farm. He looks like a type of horse we can really get on with.

"Dutch Art is a broodmare sire I like, and Cotai Glory consistently punches above his weight and this is a very exciting horse."

Explaining the strategy a little further, Elliott said: "We will aim to buy six together and two will go to George Scott, two to Andrew Balding and two to Ralph Beckett.

"For George we have focused on getting some fast type of two-year-old sorts, he has excelled with that sort of horse, while for Andrew and Ralph we will probably get later-developing types." (12:02)

The colt, a half-brother to a dual winner in France, was sold by Kildaragh Stud and bought by JS Bloodstock and Andrew Balding, trainer of the juvenile Group 2 winner.

The Manton Park Stud-based sire has eight entries across October Book 2 and Book 3, and two catalogued in the Tattersalls Ireland September Sale, including Lot 172, a colt due to be consigned by Kildaragh Stud. (11:25)

The mare was the winner of two races and placed 11 times, including in the October Stakes (L). She is the dam of two winners from four runners and is a half-sister to the Fred Darling Stakes (G3) winner Dandhu (Dandy Man).

"I love Showcasing," said the trainer, adding: "He is very much a favourite sire. We have waited for this horse, we all picked him out. His full-sister looks to have ability and he comes from a great farm."

That sister Fondest Dream, a 2023 graduate of this sale, is the winner of one race from one start and is entered in the 7f £150,000 Tattersalls Auction Stakes for horses sold at this sale and in Book 3 and Book 4, due to be run on October 4.

Big Evs and Big Mojo are both Tattersalls graduates, bought at the October Sale and the December Sale respectively. (18:33)

He was pinhooked as a foal by Loughmore Stables for €22,000 and is from the family of the Gimcrack Stakes (G2) runner-up Well Done Fox, who now stands at stud in India at Star Born Stud. (18:30)

"He is out of a Kodiac mare and although I have not yet had any by the sire, I remember him running well and often against Harry Angel. He has been bought for an owner, which needs a call to confirm!" said Cox. "There is plenty of stock around, and it is being able to pick and buy the ones you are pleased to take home, and this fella certainly fits the bill."

The mare has produced one winner from one runner and she is out of the Group 3 Brownstown Stakes winner Redstone Dancer (Namid). (17:29)

"It is unbelievable, when I bought her as foal I thought I might be able to double my money, I never thought she would make that today, I am over the moon," he said of his first foray into the world of buying and selling horses.

Going on to explain why she appealed to him last November, he said: "She is by Dark Angel, her dam is a half-sister to Mehmas so it is all speed, and she is a bulky sort, I thought she looked like she would be able to run fast. Her full-sister had been placed in a Listed race and we hoped she would go on to get some more black-type, and luckily she did. It is the stuff of dreams, really."

Coming to Tattersalls with his father Dermot to sell under the family's Kildallan Farm banner the young man kept his hopes in the "realistic" category, proving that he is somewhat wise beyond his young years.

"Our expectations were high, but they were low at the same time, you never know in this game what is going to happen. To be honest, it was emotional watching her sell, and I am just so happy," he said, remembering, like all successful consignors, to acknowledge his purchasers and bidders: "I want to thank buyer Paul Corrigan and the underbidder Roger O'Callaghan, without Roger it wouldn't have happened, we got lucky."

Of future career plans there might be some family debate, especially as the young man is going into his transition year: "We will see, but my Dad tells me to stick to the books. I have been going around with Roger and he has been really helpful, I expect I will end up at Tally-Ho Stud."

He also admitted that he has had to skive a day off school to be at Tattersalls today and is heading back on Wednesday – he will have plenty to tell his schoolmates and his teachers about how to make money selling horses.

It could be a decent couple of days for Kildallan Farm as tomorrow the team is consigning the Inns Of Court half-brother to the Group 2 winner and the recent Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes runner-up Believing (Lot 279); and our young man reports that the colt is going "down very well" with the viewers.

And so, to sign off, what plans does young Kilmartin have with today's profit?

"We'll see you back here at Tattersalls at the foal sales in December!" he says with a smile. (16:43)

"She is a lovely filly, the mare is proven and she will be the first Teme Valley horse with Karl Burke," said Ryan. "I have been looking for a nice horse for Karl for some time and she fits all the criteria – she is out of a proven mare, is a half-sister to a Palace House winner [Seven Questions], Karl trained Boogie Time and felt this was a step up as an individual, she has a great mind and a lot to like with a fabulous walk."

He added: "I like the sire and I quite like them as a bunch and think he has got every chance."

Of having to spending a six-figure sum on the filly's purchase, he said: "A good model and a half-sister to a stakes winner is going to cost this sort of money, I was hoping for a bit less! We will race, her and she might be in the shop window in future, but she has a great residual value, which helps."

It is fast family throughout – dam is a half-sister to the Temple Stakes (G2) winner and King's Stand Stakes (G1) third-placed Pearl Secret, and the extended family includes Palacegate Episode, the granddam of Dutch Art. (15:53)

"He has been bought by trainer Alice Haynes, he looks a very fast horse, he without an owner but hopefully by the next couple of days someone will ring and buy him<' added McStay. "He is a very sharp-looking horse an is going to a trainer we all know is very good at getting these two-year-olds out and having lots of success. He has been well presented by Whitsbury and is out of a mare who has done it already."

McStay, who was sat on the far acorn with Haynes, continued: "He looks every inch a two-year-old. Sergei was a fast horse, seems to be getting fast horse and seems to be holding his own. We had to push the boat out, there were five or six different bidders at different stages, and think Mark Grant was our direct under bidder – he produced Bradsell whom he bought at this sale, so that tells us all that we need to know about his judgement."

Haynes added: "Enquiries to me!"

At this sale last year Grant went to 52,000gns for the 2022-born Showcasing colt out of this dam Enchanted Linda (Charm Spirit). She was a winner at two and three and is dam of Havana Ball (Havana Grey), a Listed winner in Germany over 7f in May for trainer Archie Watson.

Enchanted Linda was bought by Whitsbury Manor for 11,000gns at the Tattersalls December Sale in 2019. (14:35)

"He is from a fast family and has been bought to breeze," said Whitehead. "I have not had any to breeze by Havana Grey so far, but have bred to him and he has been lucky for me."

The dual winner Deep Impression is a half-sister to the nine-time winner and South African Group race winner Gorongosa (Montjeu), dam of the South African black-type winner Shangani and Chitengo. (13:43)

She is out of the mare Colonaide (Almanzor) from the family of the German Group 1 winners and champions Schiaparelli, Salve Regina, Sea Moon, Seismos and Samum.

The filly was pinhooked as a foal for €25,000 last winter by Moanmore Stables and Evergreen Stud. (13:30)

Dam Clouds Rest, the winner of three races at two, is the dam of five winners from six runners, including Tenaya Canyon (Due Diligence), who has two Listed placings to her name.

Gilt Edge Girl, a half-sister of granddam Ahwahnee (Compton Place), boasts Group 1 success as the winner of the Prix de l'Abbaye, her half-brother Godfrey Street won the Flying Childers Stakes (G2) and half-sister Tamora is granddam of Arabian Dusk, winner of this year's Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes (G2). The colt is a half-brother to this year's Listed Royal Ascot Windsor Castle Stakes winner Ain't Nobody (Sands Of Mali) and out of the mare Burmese Waltz (Showcasing), the winner of two races at two and four and placed four times, including in the Silver Wokingham Handicap.

That luck that Scott has enjoyed with the sire has come courtesy of the speedy Rocket Rodney, whom he trains for Victorious Racing. The four-year-old has won three races, including the Listed Dragon Stakes as a juvenile and the Al Riffa Cup in Qatar in December. (12:03)

He is out of the unraced Berkshire Honey (Sakhee's Secret), the headline performers in the pedigree being Bomb Alaska, winner of the Listed Ben Marshall Stakes and placed 14 times including in the Gordon Richards Stakes (G3), and his dam So True, a runner-up in the Musidora Stakes (G3) and the St Simon Stakes (G3).

Berkshire Honey has had one winner so far – Jojo Rabbit who won six races and achieved a BHA rating high of 89.

A'Ali, by Society Rock and standing at Newsells Park Stud, won five stakes races, four times at Group 2 level – the 5f Flying Childers Stakes (G2), the Sapphire Stakes (G2), the Prix Robert Papin (G2) and the Norfolk Stakes (G2). (11:53)

He is the first foal out of the the Kodiac mare Aurora Eclipse, the winner of two races and fourth in the Listed Bosra Sham Stakes. She is a half-sister to the German Listed winner Swift Approval and from the further family of Anthem Alexander, Lady Alexander and Dandy Man. (11:26)

He is out of Alienate (Oasis Dream), a half-sister to Logician (Frankel), the champion three-year-old stayer in Europe of 2019 and winner of the St Leger, and to Suffused, a Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed in the US.

It is the Juddmonte-developed family of Cityscape, Bated Breath and Equilateral.

The May-born colt is a half-brother to the Group 2-placed Lmay (Frankel), who finished fourth in the Group 2 T.von Zastrow Stutenpreis over 1m4f on Saturday. (10:52)
