(15:56)
Lot 193:
Sunny Street is heading to Indonesia on stud duties, bought by King Halim Stable. The three-year-old colt is by Exceed And Excel and is a half-brother to Excellent Sunset, who was placed third in the Robert J Frankel Stakes (G3).
The stable's owner Kusnadi Halim is at Tattersalls with his racing consultant Sennet Ho, who said: "We have bought this horse for stud duties, and we liked him for his his conformation, everything is well proportioned. We want to increase the breeding population in the region and we are looking for new bloodlines. As Indonesia is so big it is hard to travel so studs use stallions for their own private purchase."
With changes to racing scene in the region, racing having come to an end in Macau and in Singapore, Ho is keen to explore new opportunities that could open up saying, "Macau so close and there is plenty of potential."
(15:18)
Lot 157:
consigned by Imperium Sales, the 98-rated four-year-old gelding Davideo (Galileo) is bought by New Zealand-based trainer Shaune Ritchie Racing with De Burgh Equine for 130,000gns.
Ritchie has enjoyed success buying at Tattersall before – he purchased Mahrajaan at the Autumn Horses In Training Sale 2022 for 75,000gns. The son of Kitten's Joy has gone on to win the New Zealand and Auckland Cup (G2) and is now being aimed at the Melbourne Cup.
Ritchie, who is based at Cambridge, is hoping he can repeat the feat with Davideo, and said: "He was my number one pick here. He has a big frame to fill out and he looks as though he goes on all types of going and he has a pedigree to back it up. We will get him home and try take him down the same route as as we did with Mahrajan – if he can successfully do that then we will take him to Australia as well, it is easy from over the 'ditch' to get there."
Of immediate plans, he added: "He will be on the next flight Down Under – we have quarter acre paddocks at home and every horse gets into a paddock through the day and a horse with a big frame like that will really suit that style of training."
He added: "Mahrajan has a strong chance of being the New Zealand Stayer of the Year, and it is really on the back of his success that we have been encourages us to come back again."
And of ownership plans, he outlined: "Last year I bought Mahrajan with 50 per cent sold and I have done the same again. You can buy a nice yearling at home in Australia or New Zealand and they are hard to move, whereas you buy a horse here and start mentioning the Cup races and everyone wants to get involved."
(14:44)
Lot 138:
bought by Johnny McKeever of McKeever Bloodstock for Australian owner and breeder Gary Johnson, Topanga has been purchased with a southern-hemisphere covering to Darley's Too Darn Hot in mind.
McKeever said: "Gary has seven broodmares in Europe because he likes our staying bloodlines. The mares are kept at New England Stud and Gary is here on his annual July visit.
"We are gradually buying mares who we cover on southern-hemisphere time – they stay in England for a year or so, and then join Toby Liston of Three Bridges, and she will be covered by Too Darn Hot, although we might keep her in training for a few months just to see if there is a chance of grabbing a bit of black-type somewhere. We'd probably keep her with Andrew [Balding] and in the routine she is used to. She has an amazing back family and is a beautiful filly that was important a good physique was paramount."
Explaining the attraction of sending the mare to visit Too Darn Hot, McKeever added: "He looks as though he could be an absolute breeding-changing stallion. It is so unusual that a sire can operate in both hemispheres."
The daughter of Siyouni cost her new connections 135,000gns.
(14:25)

It is the stud's leading family of the Group 1 winner Rebecca Sharp and the Derby winner and champion three-year-old Golden Horn.
Norelands Bloodstock, of course, has been successful buying this pedigree from Hascombe before, notably when the farm, through BBA Ireland, purchased Fleche D'Or at the Tattersalls December Mares Sale for 62,000gns – the mare's Cape Cross colt born that spring was Golden Horn.

Opulence Thoroughbreds goes to 46,000gns for Liberty Breeze, a six-year-old three-time-winning daughter of Equiano and sold by Simon Whitaker Racing for Grange Park Racing. She was sold in-foal to Aclaim on a March 28 service date.
The syndicate's director George Gill was in situ at Tattersalls and doing the bidding and he said: "We know this family very well as we own her half-brother Purosangue, who was second in the Coral Charge at Sandown on Saturday, and Teme Valley Racing, our partner in him, also owns the other half-brother Tropical Storm, who was second at Royal Ascot in the Norfolk Stakes."
He added: "We are looking to expand our broodmare band, she is in-foal to Aclaim, who is sire of Purosangue. She will go to Galiway Stud at Woburn from here.
"She has a good family and good updates and she is an exciting prospect."
Of the reason behind buying at broodmare prospect, he said: "We have two broodmares, it is a long term thing but it is something that is slightly different, it is an exciting thing to do in the UK, and it is where my interest lies and a lot of the clients have followed suit.
"We have two foals on the ground by New Bay and Lope De Vega. We have changed our strategy a little bit to buy fillies with residual value. Obviously in our game it is all about keeping your money alive for the long term, and we are focused on fillies with a good page – even if they are moderate racehorses they still have some value."
The syndicate has around 50 horses in training and is looking to target the Qatar Goodwood Festival with a number of horses, and with Purosangue likely to run in the Stewards' Cup.

At the conclusion of the 2024 Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up and Horses in Training Sale,
Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony commented:
“Demand in the Horses in Training section of the 2024 Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up and Horses in Training Sale has without doubt exceeded expectations, with domestic British and Irish buyers competing strongly with their international counterparts to produce record-breaking trade comfortably surpassing the previous records for turnover, average and median as well as the number of lots selling for 100,000 guineas or more.
"The clearance rate for the horses in training was a remarkable 94 per cent, yet again demonstrating the sustained global appetite for British and Irish horses in training sold at Tattersalls, and the horses belonging to Coverdale Stud and Titanium Racing were particularly sought after with buyers from throughout Europe, the Gulf region and Australia all making their presence felt.
"Nevertheless, the strong and diverse demand that produced the wide-margin record-breaking Guineas Horses in Training Sale was not matched in the Breeze Up section of the sale and, while the combined turnover for the Breeze Up and Horses in Training is a record, and the breeze up average and median prices have held up well in relation to last year’s record-breaking sale, the clearance rate has been well below par.
“In the months leading up to both the Tattersalls Craven and Guineas Breeze Up Sales members of the Tattersalls team have made promotional visits to a host of international markets including America, Australia, Bahrain, Dubai, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Norway, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Spain and Sweden and the two sales continue to attract considerable numbers of overseas buyers, but as has been noted at the earlier Breeze Up Sales, there is a selectivity to the market which has been reflected in clearance rates that have not matched the impressive levels achieved last year.
"It is clear that there are challenges in the current marketplace, challenges which reflect wider economic realities, but it should also be recognised that competition for quality British and Irish bloodstock remains robust and diverse.
"The breeze up consignors have as ever done an outstanding job, there have been some spectacular pinhooking successes today and there is no doubt that this year’s renewal of the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze Up Sale will further enhance the sale’s reputation as a consistent source of Group 1 horses."

the pinhook result of the session goes to Anderson Bloodstock's sale of this filly by sire of the day King Of Change – purchased as a yearling for €8,000, she sold today for 120,000gns to Alex Elliott / Amo Racing.
It is a debut mission at Tattersalls for Anderson Correa, who said: "This is the first year we have done this by ourselves we are delighted. I have so many people to thank including Robson Augair, Roger O'Callaghan and my brother who has helped so much. I am delighted that she has been bought by such a good judge.
"We bought four yearlings last autumn and sold two today, we have another to sell at the Tattersalls Ireland Breeze Up [Lot 178]."
(18:57)
Lot 367:
the Mehmas colt from Lackendarra Stables makes 160,000gns, bought by Billy Jackson-Stops.
A beaming consignor Eddie Linehan, who bought the colt as a yearling for 55,000gns at the October Book 2 Yearling Sale, said: "He did a very good breeze, we gave a good throw for him in Book 2, but we targeted this sale specifically in the hope that he might stand out a bit. He is a very nice horse looked the part and vetted well.
"The good ones are always easy to sell. He stood out all along for us, the day we bought him we thought we'd got a bit of value. We have been lucky with Mehamas before and we are delighted."
It has been a good day for Lackendarra – the consignor is leading the field at the moment by turnover having sold four lots for a turnover of 347,000gns.
"We bought four to the sale and sold all four, and all have sold for a bit more than expected, we are delighted," smiled Linehan.
Billy Jackson-Stops, purchaser of the Mehmas, said: "He is for Andrew Balding and Opulence Thoroughbreds. He is by the right sire, he did a lovely breeze and a good time. We wanted to buy something that would be active this year and on that front he is everything that we wanted. We loved his attitude, know the consignor well and he always does a good job."
(18:48)
Lot 341:
the already-named Nobler by the German-based sire Amaron is bought by Stuart Boman of Blandford Bloodstock and the southern hemisphere-based Go Racing for 120,000gns.
The transaction was another successful sale at Tattersalls for the Craven Sale-topping Glending Stables – Roderic Kavanagh's stable having sold the Galileo top lot at last month's sale for 1,000,000gns.
This colt was bought as a yearling by Glending for €26,000 in Germany last autumn.
The 15-year-old Amaron (Shamardal) stands at Gestut Etzean at a fee of €4,500.
(18:20)
Lot 322:
Donovan Bloodstock turns a £20,000 purchase into a 180,000gns sale, this filly by first-season sire King Of Change increasing her valuation today when bought by Oliver St Lawrence with trainer Bryan Smart.
"We liked the filly, she breezed really well, we will get her home and see where we go," said Smart. "Everything we have seen by King Of Change has breezed well. Her new owner was keen to have a filly and if she could get some black-type then she will be a breeding prospect."
Understandably, Danny O'Donovan, alongside his ownership team of Adam Potts and Brian Sheerin, were all smiles after the sale.
"It is incredible – I thought she might make about 130,000gns but to get to 180,000gns is incredible, it is life-changing money," said O'Donovan. "King Of Change has been fantastic to me all year, I have had three of them and have got life-changing money for them. It is an incredible feeling, and it can help put things on the up."
Potts added: "We knew she was very quick, and we thought she would do a good time, we were hopeful that she would deliver and she did. We really liked her when we bought her, she did nothing but improve, get stronger and faster, and it was in March we thought she might be quick."
Donovan laughed: "The pressure is off now, I am just grateful that everything has come together this year, King Of Change is my hero now!
"He was not on many radars, but he was a very good racehorse himself and we liked the stock we saw and knew they would be affordable to buy. This filly was £20,000 and she has just thrived all the way through and tuned into a really nice filly.
"Adam and I buy physicals, we work hard at the sales and we buy physicals over pedigrees and we just liked them all. We had three by the sire and there was nearly a fourth as we underbid another!
"About seven or eight weeks ago, when we started to stepped them up, I texted Micheal Orlandi [stands King Of Change] and said that this stallion is going to come up with a good one because from the first bit of work when we stepped up the gears they showed the class. They were all a bit different, hopefully, they can all go on and do it on the track."
King Of Change, who is by Farhh and stands at Starfield Stud at a fee of €5,000, finished second in the 2,000 Guineas (G1) and won the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.
(17:31)
Lot 270:
Richard Brown of Blandford Bloodstock strikes again, this time going to 150,000gns for the colt by Hello Youmzain from Longways Stables.
"I seem to be cornering the market in Hello Youmzains, that is the third one I have bought this breeze-up season," laughed Brown. "I guess I like his stock.
"I have bought him for Sheikh Juma, and he was particularly keen on him from the start. I put a list together, and when this horse was there, the Sheikh seemed fairly excited about the horse.
"This horse looks a lovely sort, he did a vey good breeze, I don't know much about the stallion but he has the credentials to be a good stallion. I hope he does – I have spent too much on an unproven stallion!"
When asked to compared his Hello Youmzain's three, Brown said: "They all have great muscle, and balance, and got a bit of class and style about them. I'll be honest, at the yearling sales, he was not on my radar at all, but he has stepped up here to be very much on my radar."
The colt, who is out of the two-year-old winner Dream Dreamer (Dream Ahead) and was bought at the October Book 2 Yearling Sale by Longways Stables for 35,000gns, goes into training with James Tate.
Hello Youmzain, a son of Kodiac, won the Group 1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes and the Sprint Cup Stakes (G1) . He was also twice Group 1-placed in sprints and was a Group 2 winner as a juvenile. He stands at Haras d'Etreham at a fee of €22,500 and is owned in partnership with the New Zealand-based Cambridge Stud.
(15:19)
Lot 253:
the Yeomanstown Stud-offered son of Mehmas is bought by Richard Brown of Blandford Bloodstock, standing down the back stair well, for 150,000gns.
"He has been bought for Sheikh Rashid, and he goes to Richard Fahey, obviously been very successful for Sheikh Rashid – Pretty Crystal, the filly supplemented for the 1,000 Guineas on Sunday, is out of a breeze-up filly whom we purchased, so it is all coming around with progeny now starting to come forwards."
Brown added: "This horse did a very good breeze, he was very green and came across the track with his ears pricked. Watching it live I loved it, but he is going to have to sharpen his act up a bit as he was fairly babyish.
"I love the stallion – he is a very serious sire of two-year-olds. This horse looks a real two-year-old and though he has the sire's best attributes."
(14:41)
Lot 248:
the Masar colt out of Bournemouth Belle (Canford Cliffs), a winner at two and third in the Empress Stakes (L), is bought by Middleham Park Racing for 130,000gns, the colt going into training with Archie Watson.
"He is a lovely horse, a very good physical, he is the sort of horse we love to buy," said Watson. "He did a very good breeze for a horse of his type – he is certainly a 7f / miler type but his times and what he did stood up against sprinter type horse, We had to stretch a bit to get him.
"He has got a chance of being a Chesham horse. We'll get him home and see how he fits in with the others, if he could be Royal Ascot sort then we will look at that, if not I am sure he will still be a lovely horse."
(14:32)
Lot 232:
the well-bred Mocklershill Stud-consigned colt by Quality Road out of the multiple Group 1 winner and Group 1 placed Alice Springs (Galileo) is bought by Colm Sharkey for 140,000gns.
Sharkey said: "He is for a Dubai-based client, he was pretty keen to get him, he had the horse ear marked for weeks, he loves the pedigree. Th horse will ship to Dubai and will get all the time he needs. By Quality Road, the Dirt pedigree works out there and h has had success. This is a big strong horse who vetted well, there are not many negatives."
The colt is a half-brother to Prettiest, three-times placed in European Group 3 races, and to Fleetingly, a three-year-old filly by Justify who recently finished second in a maiden at Naas on her second career start.

Lot 198:
Blanchland, the last lot in the ring today in the Guineas Horses In Training session and a wildcard entry, makes 110,000gns, bought by Martin Buick of De Burgh Equine.
Offered by Jane Chapple-Hyam Racing, Blanchland, by Farhh, has won over a mile and 1m4f, and finished second in the Group 3 Zetland Stakes as a juvenile in 2022. The four-year-old colt's career is set to resume in Australia.
"He is the pick in the sale with the Australian job in mind, he has the rating, he has got the distance profile, an obvious horse and, hopefully, he can run down there and be lucky for the new owners. He goes into training with Trent Busuttin," said Buick. "He was a stand-out in this catalogue and his brother [Speycaster] is running well in Australia already. The price was on our limit."
(12:50)
Lot 192:
the unraced three-year-old Chilli Zing is bought by trainer Phil Kirby on behalf of owner James and Susan Cookson.
"We have been looking for a nice horse, he was my pick and I went to se this draft before the sale. I loved him then, a lovely big horse to hopefully look forward to. He was never a two-year-old type and so someone else has spent the money looking after him," laughed Kirby after going to 100,000gns to secure the colt by Magna Grecia.
"He has a nice page, and we will see what he is like when we get home. He is ready to get on with, all the hard work has been done, and hopefully there are some nice days ahead."
Offered by The Castlebridge Consignment, Chilli Zing is a half-brother to the 2,000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes (G1) winner Poetic Flare, who was also four-time Group 1 placed, and to the Group 3 winner Glamorous Approach.
(12:48)
Lot 169:
the three-year-old Dubawi colt Twisting Physics is bought by the Dubai-based owner Fitri Hay for 100,000gns, the Hay's racing manager Alex Cole at Park Paddocks and in charge of bidding.
The colt is a half-brother to Tropbeau, winner of the Prix du Calvados (G2), the Prix Six Perfections (G3) and the Prix de la Grotte (G3). He was also placed four times, with a best result when second in the Prix Maurice De Gheest (G1) and fourth in the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (G1) and the Prix de la Foret (G1).
"He goes to Whatcombe, obviously Dubawis have done well in Dubai so he might well go out there, too," said Cole. "We are delighted – I did not see him as a yearling, Dubawis are not usually in my price range!"
Grand dam is the Group 1 July Stakes winner Frizzante.
(12:36)
Lot 168:
Supreme Beauty, who has had one run when third at Beverley in September, is bought by owner Jeremy Young , who has horses in training with Michael Appleby and was sat alongside his trainer in the gods.
“We haven’t made a plan yet but we’ll probably put her into training and see how she goes,” said Appleby. “If we don’t think she’s going to be top-class then we’ll probably just breed from her. She’s a nice filly, though, and the owners will breed from her eventually either way.”

Lot 151:
the three-year-old First Ambition, the first foal out of the six-time Group 1 winner Laurens (Siyouni), is bought by Harriett Jones for 42,000gns.
By Invincible Spirit, the colt's dam is well-known to Jones, who said: "I used to work for Karl Burke and had an involvement with Laurens – I rode her a couple of times. It is nice to have her first offspring. We are not sure of plans yet, he looks like a horse who might need a bit of time and he will get that and then we will make a plan and he will go into training.
"Hopefully, he will do as well as Laurens did!"
Jones added: "He has got a lot of Laurens about him, the way he walks and he looks like he has got a great mind like his Mum. She had a very powerful presence, as does he, let's hope he can bring some of that towards the track."
Laurens had a filly by Kingman in 2022.

Lot 146:
Thunder Blue, BHA rated 94, is bought by trainer Jamie Osborne for 110,000gns. The winner of one race as a juvenile last June at Goodwood for Amo Racing, Thunder Blue has been highly tried in the interim – he finished fourth in the Group 2 July Stakes, ran in the Group 1 Prix Morny behind Vandeek and has been racing in Meydan this spring.
Osborne has a definite plan in mind for the son of Blue Point.
"He has been bought for Barratt Racing, Ian and Claire Barratt and family, they have a box at Royal Ascot and a lot of people coming." explained the trainer. "We want to have runners for them everyday at the meeting, we are prioritising Royal Ascot and we want to give them as much entertainment as possible.
"This horse will go straight to the Palace Of Holyroodhouse. Who knows what beyond that, we are working back from the Friday of Royal Ascot."
The race is a 0-105 5f handicap for three-year-olds and Osborne added: "We saw this horse in Dubai, he did not do too well out there and so we are buying him on a form low, and we have six weeks to resurrect him and I have told Ian that I can do that!"
Barratt Racing's recent flag-bearer has been Emaraaty Ana, who was bought by Osborne for 160,000gns at last October's Autumn Horses In Training Sale. The eight-year-old son of Shamardal went on to win the Dukhan Sprint in Qatar and paid for himself winning £179,537 in prize-money.

Lot 89:
Alex Elliott and JS Bloodstock go to 130,000gns for the two-year-old Kingman three-parts sister to the Listed Ripon Champion 2yo Trophy winner and Cornwallis Stakes fourth-placed (G3) Bahrain Pride.
The pair are out of the Sea The Stars mare Life Of Pi, a half-sister to the Listed winner Temps Au Temps, a half-sister to the dam of the Group 2 winner and the multiple Group 1-placed Armory, a joint champion European three-year-old of 2020.
Elliott said: "She has been bought for Valmont and Michael Blencowe. We bought six yearlings last autumn, unfortunately one got hurt so we were keen to replace.
"I did not know what to expect when I went to look at her, but her quality was stand out quality. She was hard to value but we are happy to get her for what we paid. She is a three-parts sister to a Listed winner by Kodiac, it is a deep pedigree – I would have loved to her bought her eight months ago and we could have been dreaming of June!
"But she will get all the time in the world, her trainer is undecided at the moment."
He added: "She has got good residual, all she can do is improve and she vetted perfectly. She has not had a great preparation, but her quality still shone through. She is going to need a lot of time, but she has done herself well which I think is down to her quality. She won't be rushed at all. We will think about her first and foremost, and we are delighted to have her.
"I have bought her with Billy Jackson-Stops – Michael Blencowe is his client."
Underbidders included Nancy Sexton and Daniel Creighton.

Lot 49:
the unraced Disco Spirit (Acclamation) is bought by Hurworth Bloodstock / Pompey Ventures for 36,000gns. The three-year-old colt is out of Party For Ever (Iffraaj), a half-sister to the Listed winners Line Of Reason and Corsario.
"Pompey Ventures is a syndicate started up by myself with Ned Sangster," explained Owen Haly from outside the sale ring. "Our first purchases were made at the Autumn Horses In Training Sale where we picked up Media Shooter and Oliver Show, both been great servants over the winter and Media Shooter has already won back in prize-money what we paid for him ."
Of Disco Spirit's purchase, he said: "This horse is going to George Boughey, who has been training Oliver Show. We liked this horse as a physical, I think we are getting a bit of value with the 'unknown' aspect through the John Dance dispersal. We had a look at the horse and George liked him. He will go straight to George now and we will let him work his magic and see what happens."
Pompey Ventures has ten horses in training, the aim of the syndicate, as explained by Hayley, is to encourage younger racehorse ownership.
"The vast majority of our shareholders are under the age of 35, they invest from two per cent up to 50 per cent in each horse with training fees included to a certain level," he outlined, adding:"When you buy yearlings and breeze ups there are a lot of unknowns, we like the angle of buying form horses whom we think we can improve. This is a game of opinions and seeing different things – for instance, Media Shooter's only win before we bought him had been on the All-Weather but he had been running on Turf, so we thought to switch back to the All-Weather over the winter and it worked well."
Hayley has shares in a number of horses himself and was racing fan as a youngster: "My first racing memory is Royal Ascot 2015 with a couple of mates, then I have been a bit of a form student. I met Ned through a mutual friend."
