15 Feb 2026 Share on X Share on Facebook Tattersalls Horses in Training Dominate Amir Sword Festival in Qatar Group 2 Al Rayyan MIle winner August George was bought at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale for 375,000 guineasThe four-day Amir Sword Festival in Qatar was dominated by Tattersalls horses in training graduates with eleven of the fifteen races open to imported thoroughbreds won by horses who were purchased at either the Autumn Horses in Training Sale, the July Sale or the February Sale.Leading the way was the Group 2 Al Rayyan Mile winner AUGUST GEORGE who fought hard to hold off all-comers in the $400,000 contest for trainer Jassim Ghazali and owner Sheikh Mohamed Salman M Al-Thani. The three-year-old was purchased at last year’s Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale for 375,000 guineas by Ghazali from the draft of Finbar Kent, having finished second to subsequent Group 3 winner DORSET in a valuable sales race on his third start.Evergreen Group 3 Dukhan Sprint Cup winner Quinault was bought for 25,000 guineas at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training SaleShortly afterwards the Stuart Williams-trained QUINAULT scored a gutsy victory in the Group 3 Dukhan Sprint Cup for his owners TJE Racing. The six-year-old son of OASIS DREAM recorded his twelfth win for his connections who purchased him for just 25,000 guineas as a once raced two-year-old at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale.Ghazali and his son Mohamed, who purchase alongside bloodstock agent William Douglass, dominated the four-day spectacle, winning eight of the eleven races won by imported thoroughbreds, with Tattersalls regular Hamad Al-Jehani responsible for the other two locally trained winners.The next chance to buy a horse in training at Tattersalls is at the Guineas Horses in Training Sale which takes place on Thursday, 30th April.
