Tattersalls October Book 1 Purchase Maltese Cross Wins Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris

It was a 1-2 for Tattersalls October Book 1 purchases in the Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris, with MALTESE CROSS leading home ANCIENT EGYPT.

Prior to his top-level breakthrough, MALTESE CROSS had never finished out of the first two. He won the Listed Lingfield Derby Trial earlier this season before going on to finish second in the Derby at Epsom, part of a 1-2-3-4 for Tattersalls October Yearling Sale purchases.

The son of SEA THE STARS was offered at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale by Stauffenberg Bloodstock, bought for 350,000 guineas by Sam Haggas’ Hurworth Bloodstock on behalf of owner George Waud.

MALTESE CROSS’ success follows on from fellow 2026 Group and Grade 1 winning Tattersalls October Yearling Sale graduates CHRISTMAS DAY, ESTRANGE, MISSION CENTRAL, OMBUDSMAN, ROMANTIC WARRIOR, PORTFOLIO DURATION, TITLE ROLE and VENETIAN SUN.

The Tattersalls Somerville Yearling Sale is the next sale to take place at Park Paddocks on Wednesday 2nd September, with the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale following on from Tuesday 6th – Friday 16th October.
