Catalogues for Books 2, 3 and 4 of Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Now Online

The catalogues for Books 2, 3 and 4 of the 2026 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale are now online and can be viewed at www.tattersalls.com. Book 2 features 806 yearlings and will take place Monday 12th – Wednesday 14th October, Book 3 has 507 yearlings catalogued and will take place Thursday 15th – Friday 16th October, whilst Book 4 includes 61 yearlings and will commence immediately after Book 3 concludes on Friday 16th October.

Tattersalls October Book 2 purchases have enjoyed global success at the top level in 2026, headlined by the world’s highest rated racehorse OMBUDSMAN, who added the Group 1 Dubai Turf and a second Group 1 Prince of Wales’s Stakes to his illustrious CV. The son of NIGHT OF THUNDER is joined by fifteen-time Group 1 winner ROMANTIC WARRIOR, dual Group 1 winner HOTAZHELL, and US Grade 1 winner TITLE ROLE as flagbearers for the sale this year. 

The 2026 catalogue features own or half-siblings to 486 Group and Listed performers, most notably the SEA THE STARS own brother to the Champion two-year-old colt THE LION IN WINTER, the SEA THE STARS own brother to the German Oaks winner MISS YODA and the ST MARK’S BASILICA half-brother to 2000 Guineas winner POETIC FLARE. Also catalogued are the NATHANIAL own brother to Group 1 Nassau Stakes winner LADY BOWTHORPE and the PINATUBO half-sister to the Group 1 British Champions Sprint winner KIND OF BLUE.

In addition, there are 247 sons and daughters of black–type mares catalogued, including the LOPE DE VEGA half-brother to the Group 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner VICTORIA ROAD, out of Group 3 winner TICKLED PINK as well as the GLENEAGLES own brother to Group 1 Prix de Royallieu winner LOVING DREAM, out of the Group 1 placed mare KISSABLE.

The sires index paints an equally impressive picture with eighteen of the top 20 leading sires in Britain and Ireland represented with Tally-Ho Stud’s MEHMAS leading the way with 45 yearlings catalogued, followed by HAVANA GREY, NEW BAY and TOO DARN HOT with 27 each. Other leading British & Irish based stallions who are well represented include BLUE POINT (24), CAMELOT (15), DARK ANGEL (18), FRANKEL (1), GHAIYYATH (15), KINGMAN (9),LOPE DE VEGA (26), NIGHT OF THUNDER (7), NO NAY NEVER (19), SEA THE STARS (13),STARSPANGLEDBANNER (24), STARMAN (10), STUDY OF MAN (16), and WOOTTON BASSETT (9) whilst leading French-based stallions to be represented include SIYOUNI with four lots, ZARAK with 16 and ZELZAL with one. 

First crop sires are well represented with 2000 Guineas winner CHALDEAN leading the way numerically with 30 yearlings, narrowly ahead of French 2000 Guineas winner MODERN GAMES with 29. Other first crop sires with yearlings catalogued include ACE IMPACT, ARCANGELO, ASYMMETRIC, DRAGON SYMBOL, EL CABALLO, GOOD GUESS, LITTLE BIG BEAR, MISHRIFF, MOSTAHDAF, NATIVE TRAIL, PADDINGTON, SHAQUILLE, TRIPLE TIME and VADENI. 

Sires with their first runners this year are also represented with the leading European first crop sires PERSIAN FORCE, BAYSIDE BOY and BLACKBEARD, who have all had Group/Listed winners represented by two, eight and nine yearlings respectively. 

The Castlebridge Consignment has the largest draft this year with 37 lots catalogues, followed by last year’s leading consignor Tally-Ho Stud with 32 yearlings catalogued, whilst Baroda Stud and Newsells Park Stud, each have 28 yearlings apiece.

Book 3 has 507 yearlings catalogued and will take place Thursday 15th – Friday 16th October, whilst Book 4 includes 61 yearlings and will commence immediately after Book 3 concludes on Friday 16th October. All yearlings catalogued in Books 3 and 4 of the October Yearling Sale are eligible for the £200,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes and the £200,000 Tattersalls Somerville Auction Stakes run at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile and July Course respectively.

Books 3 & 4 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale includes yearlings by current top 20 British & Irish based sires including BLUE POINT, CAMELOT, COTAI GLORY, DARK ANGEL, GHAIYYATH, HAVANA GREY, LOPE DE VEGA, MEHMAS, NEW BAY, NO NAY NEVER, STARMAN, STARSPANGLEDBANNER, STUDY OF MAN, and TOO DARN HOT.
