The outstanding daughter of STARMAN will feature in the Sceptre Sessions, which showcases the finest fillies and mares in Europe.Venetian Sun wins the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot The three-year-old VENETIAN SUN was purchased for 240,000 guineas at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale and raced for trainer Karl Burke and owners Tony Bloom and Ian McAleavy. As a two-year-old, she won the Group 3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot before going on to defeat GSTAAD in the Group 1 Prix Morny at Deauville.As a three-year-old, she scored again at Royal Ascot in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup before finishing a narrow second in the Group 1 July Cup behind COMMANCHE BRAVE. VENETIAN SUN won six of her nine career starts, including the Group 2 Sandy Lane Stakes and Group 2 Duchess of Cambridge Stakes, and was also placed in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes.Venetian Sun beating Gstaad in the Group 1 Prix Morny VENETIAN SUN is by STARMAN, last year’s champion first-season sire in Britain and Ireland, out of the Iffraaj mare JOHARA, and was bred by Tally-Ho Stud. She hails from the family of Group 1-placed SUMMERTIME LEGACY, dam of Group 1 winners MANDAEAN and WAVERING, and granddam of EARTHLIGHT and SHADOW OF LIGHT, both dual Group 1-winning two-year-olds.Trainer Karl Burke commented:“Venetian Sun is a genuine superstar.
