With an impressive late run, the Owen Burrows-trained AKHLAAQ broke his maiden on debut in the British Stallion Studs EBF Molson Coors Maiden at Salisbury and won a £25,000 ‘Book 1 Bonus’. In addition to £4,528 in prize money and £7,500 from the Plus 10 Bonus scheme, he earned his connections a total of £37,028 on his first outing. The win brought Shadwell Estate’s tally of £25,000 ‘Book 1 Bonuses’ to three, adding to victories by SAMHARRY and EQTIRAAN in July.
The bay colt is out of Group 2 Cherry Hinton Stakes winning mare MISHEER and was bought at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale by Shadwell Estate Company for 400,000 guineas from the draft of Highclere Stud. This year’s sale takes place on October 4-6 and the catalogue is now online.
