The William Haggas-trained APLOMB ran out an impressive winner of the British EBF Novice Stakes at Yarmouth, picking up the 129th Tattersalls October £25,000 Book 1 Bonus in the process. The son of LOPE DE VEGA earned a total of £37,287 for owner Fiona Carmichael made up from £4,787 in prize money, £7,500 from the Plus 10 Bonus and £25,000 from the Book 1 Bonus. The eye-catching two-year-old is out of the DESERT STYLE mare MICKLEBERRY, a half-sister to Group 2 July Stakes winning ALHEBAYEB, and was purchased at Book 1 of the October Yearling Sale by Westwood Bloodstock for 125,000 guineas from the draft of Norris Bloodstock. APLOMB’s victory also provided a major update to the pedigree of his full brother who is to be offered on Wednesday 17th October at Book 2 of the October Yearling Sale, catalogued as Lot 1290.
