GLOBAL APPLAUSE won the inaugural £25,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus when taking out the Hot Streak Future Stars Maiden at Newmarket for Hong Kong-based owner Dr Johnny Hon. The son of MAYSON was purchased for 78,000 guineas at Book 1 of the October Yearling Sale by Charlie Gordon-Watson Bloodstock from the draft of Tally-Ho Stud. The Ed Dunlop-trained colt collected a £25,000 Book 1 Bonus, in addition to £6,469 prizemoney for a total of £31,469.
After the race trainer Ed Dunlop commented;
“We targeted October Book 1 specifically because of the £25,000 October Book 1 Bonus so we are thrilled to have won the first one.â€
Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony commented;
“We are delighted that the first £25,000 October Book 1 Bonus has been won. Global Applause looks an exciting prospect and as a horse who only cost 78,000 guineas at Book 1 of the October Yearling Sale, precisely what the bonus scheme was set up to promote.”
