SWISS STORM took home £37,675 for connections when winning the Wedgewood Estates EBN Stallions Maiden Stakes at Newbury and stamping himself as a horse of considerable promise. The son of first-season sire sensation FRANKEL won his Maiden on the second time of asking having gone off a short favourite on debut. The David Ellsworth-trained colt collected a £25,000 October Book 1 Bonus, a £7,500 Plus 10 Bonus and prize money of £5,175 for a total of £37,675. The half-brother to the Group/Listed winners SWISS DIVA, SWISS SPIRIT and SWISS DREAM and looks set to head for the Group 1 Racing Post Trophy.
SWISS STORM was purchased at Book 1 of the October Yearling Sale for 235,000 guineas by Suzanne Roberts from the draft of Gay & Annette O’Callaghan’s Yeomanstown Stud. His half-brother by INVINCIBLE SPIRIT is set to be offered at this year’s renewal of the sale by Watership Down Stud whilst FRANKEL has 17 yearlings catalogued for Europe’s premier yearling sale.
