William Haggas trained his second £25,000 October Book 1 Bonus winner in as many days yesterday when WILLIE JOHN was first past the post in the British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes at Yarmouth. The son of DANSILI became the 86th winner of a Book 1 Bonus and earned a total £37,157 for his owners M J Jooste and China Horse Club following his impressive maiden win. Bred and consigned at Book 1 by Meon Valley Stud, WILLIE JOHN is out of dual Group 1 winning PIVOTAL mare IZZI TOP, herself a daughter of Group 1 Prix de l’Opera winner ZEE ZEE TOP, and was purchased by the buying team of China Horse Club, Mayfair Speculators and Peter & Ross Doyle for 325,000 guineas. The DUBAWI half-brother to WILLIE JOHN was purchased by Roger Varian at this year’s sale for 2.6 million guineas.
