The Richard Hannon-trained CANTON QUEEN was a smart winner of the Apollo EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes at Leicester where she also won a Tattersalls October £25,000 Book 1 Bonus. The daughter of SHAMARDAL earned a total of £38,969 for her owners Rockcliffe Stud, made up of £6,469 in prize money, £7,500 from the Plus 10 Bonus and £25,000 from the Book 1 Bonus. The successful filly is out of the OASIS DREAM mare HANA LINA, a daughter of the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner QUEEN LOGIC and a half sister to dual Group 2 winner LADY OF THE DESERT. CANTON QUEEN was consigned at Book 1 of the October Yearling Sale by Barton Stud, where she was purchased by SackvilleDonald for 110,000 guineas. The TEOFILO half brother to CANTON QUEEN is to be offered at this year’s sale by Houghton Bloodstock, catalogued as Lot 399. The £25,000 October Book 1 Bonus is only for graduates of Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale. This year’s sale takes place from October 9 – 11.
