The catalogue for Book 1 of the 2022 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, which takes place Tuesday 4th to Thursday 6th October, is now online and can be viewed at www.tattersalls.com. Europe’s premier yearling sale numbers 549 lots, all of which are eligible for the lucrative £20,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus scheme which recently celebrated its 286th winner and has paid out £6,845,000 in bonus prize money to date.


The flagship Tattersalls yearling sale has attracted an outstanding collection of the finest yearlings to be found anywhere in the world, including 26 yearlings by DUBAWI, 28 by FRANKEL, 31 by KINGMAN, 38 by LOPE DE VEGA, 31 by SEA THE STARS, 26 by SIYOUNI and 17 by the late GALILEO.


The catalogue features own or half-brothers and sisters to a remarkable 61 Classic and Group 1 winners and 223 Group/Listed winners. This year’s Derby winner DESERT CROWN, 1000 Guineas winner CACHET, July Cup winner ALCOHOL FREE, Commonwealth Cup winner PERFECT POWER and Coronation Stakes winner INSPIRAL are among the stars with siblings catalogued.


Amongst the siblings to Classic and Group 1 winners are own or half-brothers to global stars including BARNEY ROY, BELVOIR BAY, BROOME, DIGITAL AGE, EL BODEGON, GHAIYYATH, GOLDEN HORN, HARRY ANGEL, HERMOSA, HYDRANGEA, LEGATISSIMO, MAGNA GRECIA, POET’S WORD, POETIC FLARE, ROCKEMPEROR, SNOW LANTERN, ST MARK’S BASILICA, SUBJECTIVIST, WALDGEIST, WITHOUT PAROLE and ZHUKOVA.


Beautifully bred fillies include own or half-sisters to Classic and Group 1 winners ACLAIM, AUNT PEARL, BATTAASH, DREAMLOPER, EBRO RIVER, GALILEO GOLD, GOING GLOBAL, JUST THE JUDGE, LINE OF DUTY, LUMIERE, RIZEENA, THE GURKHA and TWILIGHT PAYMENT.


An impressive fourteen Classic and Group/Grade 1 winning mares have yearlings catalogued including NIGHTIME and SKY LANTERN, both of whom have produced Group 1 winners and have colts by DUBAWI and KINGMAN respectively. Classic winners GREAT HEAVENS and SEVENTH HEAVEN both have fillies catalogued by KINGMAN, and Poule d'Essai des Pouliches winner TEPPAL has a colt by INVINCIBLE SPIRIT.


The seventeen yearlings by the late twelve-time Champion sire GALILEO include an own-brother to Arc winner and European Champion WALDGEIST, an own-brother to the Group 1 winners HYDRANGEA, THE UNITED STATES and dual Guineas winner HERMOSA and colts out of the top-class Australian racemare MISSROCK, dual Group 1 winner AMAZING MARIA and Epsom Oaks runner up PINK DOGWOOD. 


His perennial rival DUBAWI has an eye-catching collection of 26 yearlings including an own-brother to European Champion GHAIYYATH and five colts out of Classic and Group 1 winning mares including GOD GIVEN, MAIN EDITION, PERSUASIVE and URBAN FOX.


FRANKEL wrested the Champion sire crown from his sire GALILEO in 2021 and is represented by 28 yearlings. Amongst them is the colt out of the regally bred Group 3 winner SO MI DAR and half-brothers to Group 1 winners BROOME, TAMARKUZ and WITHOUT PAROLE. His fellow Juddmonte Farms resident KINGMAN boasts an equally impressive line-up with a half-brother to Classic winners MAGNA GRECIA and ST MARK’S BASILICA, a half-brother to Derby winner GOLDEN HORN and colts out of the Group 1 winning mares DANK and INTRICATELY amongst his 31 yearlings.


Over a third of the yearlings catalogued are by the top ten sires currently standing in Europe and devotees of first season sires are also well catered for, with thirteen freshmen represented including Classic and Group 1 winners ADVERTISE, BLUE POINT, CRYSTAL OCEAN, MAGNA GRECIA, MASAR, STUDY OF MAN, TEN SOVEREIGNS, TOO DARN HOT and WALDGEIST.


The international appeal of Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale is traditionally enhanced by a strong contingent of overseas based sires and leading American sires KITTEN’S JOY and MEDAGLIA D’ORO feature, alongside promising young stallions AMERICAN PHAROAH and CARAVAGGIO and their French counterparts ALMANZOR, GALIWAY and ZARAK.


The largest consignment comes from last year’s sale topping Newsells Park Stud who will offer an outstanding team of 30 yearlings, followed by Baroda Stud and Highclere Stud who both have 24 lots catalogued.
