The Mike de Kock trained EUROPA POINT won the Group 1 L Jaffee Empress Club Stakes at Turffontein in South Africa yesterday to further underline the great value available to buyers at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.

The daughter of ROCK OF GIBRALTAR out of the WOODMAN mare GORBAND was purchased by Form Bloodstock’s Jehan Malherbe for 60,000 guineas at the 2008 renewal of Europe’s premier yearling sale. Consigned from The Castlebridge Consignment, the chesnut filly hails from the family of the great FALL ASPEN and is also a half-sister to last season’s Group 2 Richmond Stakes winner HARBOUR WATCH.Catalogues are out now and available from Tattersalls and Tattersalls representatives or online at www.tattersalls.com

Malherbe, who bought EUROPA POINT on behalf of Mary Slack’s nursery Wilgerbosdrift, has been enjoying a fruitful time recently with October 1 graduates including MICKDAAM, runner-up in the Group 3 UAE 2000 Guineas and an unlucky fourth in the Group 2 UAE Derby on World Cup night.

The next chance to buy at Tattersalls is next week with the Craven Breeze Up Sale taking place from April 17-19. Catalogues are out now and available from Tattersalls and Tattersalls representatives.
