60,000 guineas Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up purchase CACHET was greeted with jubilant scenes as she returned to a packed Newmarket Winners enclosure after a pillar-to-post win in the 1,000 Guineas.

Owned by Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, for whom it was a first British Classic success, and trained by 30 year old Newmarket based trainer George Boughey, CACHET was a hugely popular winner and a reception more reminiscent of Cheltenham than Newmarket greeted the daughter of ACLAIM who had been been purchased by Jake Warren just over a year ago at the 2021 Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale.

Bred and consigned at the Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up by John Bourke under his Hyde Park Stud banner, CACHET is the third foal out of the winning TEOFILO mare POYLE SOPHIE who Bourke purchased for 3,000 guineas at the 2018 Tattersalls December Mares Sale carrying the future Classic winner. ACLAIM, for whom CACHET was the first winner when making a winning debut at Newmarket last May, stands at the National Stud for a fee of £6,000.

CACHET’s Classic victory was a triumph for the Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Sale making amends for the narrow defeat of previously unbeaten European Champion NATIVE TRAIL in the 2,000 Guineas. The two outstanding three year olds were sold within 30 minutes of each other with NATIVE TRAIL, who was purchased for 210,000 guineas, catalogued as lot 56 at the 2021 Tattersalls Craven Breeze, and Classic heroine CACHET catalogued as lot 68.

Trainer George Boughey indicated that his Tattersalls Craven Breeze Up Classic winner, who had also been his first British Group winner when winning the Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes, would now target the Group 1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.
