Appropriately, three champions head the list with multiple Group 1 winner NATHANIEL matching FRANKEL’s 18 yearlings and Australian superstar SEPOY with 16 from his first northern hemisphere crop. Overseas based sires traditionally play a prominent role at Book 1 of the October Yearling Sale and proven Group/Grade 1 USA based sires DISTORTED HUMOR, ELUSIVE QUALITY, EXCHANGE RATE, KITTEN’S JOY, LEMON DROP KID, SCAT DADDY, SMART STRIKE, STREET CRY and WAR FRONT all feature prominently alongside top French based sires KENDARGENT, MAKFI, MOTIVATOR and SIYOUNI. The first northern hemisphere crop of REDOUTE’S CHOICE looks set to add further international appeal and the Australian champion sire has eight well bred yearlings catalogued. As last year the largest consignments from Britain and Ireland come from Highclere Stud and The Castlebridge Consignment with 34 and 28 yearlings respectively. Last year’s sale topping consignor Ashbrittle Stud will be hoping to repeat last year’s spectacular 2.6 million guineas triumph with an identical consignment of one – a GALILEO half brother to champion HARBINGER. Commenting on the catalogue for Book 1 of the 2015 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said; “We have a catalogue of outstanding quality for Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale. As ever, Book 1 is the best sale to buy a European Classic winner, and with the introduction of the £25,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus, it is also the only chance for an owner to buy a horse which could pay for a year’s training fees by winning a maiden. The response to the new ‘Book 1 Bonus’ has been fantastic and for owners to have the prospect of earning prize money of £30,000 or more for winning any of around 300 British and Irish two year old maidens is hugely enticing.
