The initial catalogue for the inaugural Tattersalls May NH Sale is now online, comprising 52 store horses as well as three horses in training to be offered as part of the Ann & Alan Potts part dispersal. The Tattersalls May NH Sale will also feature a section for point-to-pointers and horses in training, with entries being taken until Monday 23rd May.

The store section of the catalogue features 48 three-year-olds and four two-year-olds. Amongst the highlights is a KAPGARDE gelding out of the multiple French Listed placed OMESSA HAS alongside a son of JACK HOBBS out of Grade 2 placed mare DOUBLY GUEST. Also catalogued is a MAHLER half-brother to the Listed winner CROOKS PEAK, a GETAWAY filly out of multiple Grade 3 winner MAE’S CHOICE as well as a SOLDIER OF FORTUNE half-brother to the multiple Listed winner MRS HYDE out of Listed winner FUNNY TIMES.

Baroda Stud will offer three horses in training from the Ann & Alan Potts part dispersal. Heading the trio is SIZING POTTSIE, a 153-rated multiple Grade 2 and Grade 3 winning chaser for Jessica Harrington. The eight-year-old son of KAPGARDE was victorious in the Grade 2 Webster Cup at Navan in March having been placed in two Grade 2 chases earlier in the season. The draft also includes the unexposed five-year-old SIZING MAURITIUS, a MARTALINE gelding who followed up his hurdling debut third with a taking win at Kilbeggan and his unraced younger half-brother by WALK IN THE PARK.

Sales held at Tattersalls Park Paddocks in Newmarket have proven to be a prolific source of top-class National Hunt horses over the last 18 months. KNIGHT SALUTE and PIED PIPER, the one-two in the Aintree Grade 1 Anniversary 4-y-o Juvenile Hurdle, were bought last year for 14,000 guineas at the Tattersalls July Sale and 225,000 guineas at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale respectively. The relocated Tattersalls Cheltenham Sales also saw Cheltenham Festival victor LOVE ENVOI, winner of the Grade 2 Dawn Run Mares' Novices' Hurdle, bought for £38,000 at the Tattersalls Cheltenham March Sale and Grade 1 Champion Bumper second AMERICAN MIKE bought for £195,000 at the Tattersalls Cheltenham April Sale.

National Hunt vendors have also been well-rewarded recently at Park Paddocks. The relocated Tattersalls Cheltenham May Sale was the only sale in May last year to sell point-to-pointers for over £200,000, with the top two lots fetching £240,000 and £210,000.

Commenting on the May NH Sale, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said:

“We are delighted with the response to the new Tattersalls May NH Sale which will take place at our Newmarket base. Park Paddocks has proven itself to be an outstanding location for successful National Hunt sales and to have the three high-class lots from the Ann & Alan Potts partial dispersal, in addition to more than 50 quality store horses, is a real vote of confidence in this new Tattersalls National Hunt fixture. We are taking entries for point-to-pointers and horses and training and the catalogue looks set to have plenty to offer for a wide cross-section of buyers.”

The sale will take place at Park Paddocks, Newmarket on Thursday 26th May, starting at 11.00am with the point-to-pointers and horses in training selling before the store horses.
