GSTAAD, who is a half-brother to VANDEEK, was purchased at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale for 450,000 guineas by M V Magnier from the draft of breeder Kelly Thomas’ Maywood Stud. Europe’s leading foal sale was also the source of the Karl Burke trained NIGHT RAIDER who won the Group 2 Temple Stakes in impressive fashion. He was purchased at the sale by Joe Foley for 155,000 guineas from the draft of Peter Nolan Bloodstock.

Karl Burke also tasted success earlier in the day when his outstanding filly VENETIAN SUN won the Group 2 Sandy Lane Stakes in emphatic style, having been dropped back in trip after her seasonal debut in the 1000 Guineas. The daughter of young sire sensation STARMAN was purchased at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale by Todd Investments from Tally Ho Stud and races for Tony Bloom and Ian McAleavy.
