Tattersalls Purchases Dominate Royal Ascot Meeting

Tattersalls graduates enjoyed another successful week at Royal Ascot, with fourteen winners during the five-day festival, more than all other sales companies combined. Ten of those victories were by horses purchased at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.

Leading the way were the Group 1 winners OMBUDSMAN, VENETIAN SUN and MISSION CENTRAL, all graduates of the October Yearling Sale. The Prince of Wales’s Stakes winner OMBUDSMAN, who was purchased for 340,000 guineas at October Book 2, produced a remarkable turn of foot to run away with the 10-furlong contest for owners Godolphin. VENETIAN SUN, a 240,000 guineas October Book 1 purchase, was a brave winner of the Commonwealth Cup for owners Tony Bloom and Ian McAleavy, while the 625,000 guineas October Book 1 buy MISSION CENTRAL came with a late run to score in the King Charles III Stakes for the Coolmore team.

The Tattersalls breeze up sales also featured heavily among the winners, with LIBERTANGO providing a great advertisement for the Craven Breeze Up Sale after her impressive victory in the Group 3 Albany Stakes. The exciting daughter of NO NAY NEVER was purchased by Rob Speers for Old Mill Stud’s Ibrahim Araci for 400,000 guineas. DAIQUIRI BAY and ROGUE DIPLOMAT, winners of the Copper Horse Handicap and Royal Hunt Cup respectively, were both sourced at the Guineas Breeze Up Sale, with the latter also a graduate of the Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale.

Finally, the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes winner ORTHODOX and the Sandringham Stakes winner GREEN CARRERA were both sold at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale, where they realised 175,000 guineas and 40,000 guineas respectively.

The next sale at Tattersalls is the July Sale, which takes place from 7–9 July. Catalogues are available now from Tattersalls, Tattersalls representatives, and online at www.tattersalls.com.
