Tattersalls Somerville Yearling Sale Catalogue Online Now

The catalogue for the fifth edition of the Tattersalls Somerville Yearling Sale is now online and can be viewed at www.tattersalls.com. The catalogue features 272 yearlings who will be offered for sale on Tuesday, 2nd September, all of which will be eligible for the £200,000 Tattersalls Somerville Auction Stakes as well as the £200,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes.

The Somerville Yearling Sale continued its outstanding record of juvenile Royal Ascot success in 2025, with 9,000 guineas purchase HAVANA HURRICANE the latest winner of the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes for trainer Eve Johnson Houghton following the victory of inaugural Somerville Yearling Sale graduate CHIPOTLE.

The Somerville Royal Ascot roll of honour is led by BRADSELL, winner of the Group 2 Coventry Stakes and the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes, and this year’s Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes second FLOWERHEAD leads a further eight Somerville two-year-olds to have been placed at the Royal Meeting in the sale’s short history. The Somerville Yearling Sale has also produced a remarkable 35 individual Group and Listed performers since 2023.

This year’s catalogue boasts own or half brothers and sisters to 50 Group and Listed performers, and 45 yearlings out of Group and Listed performing mares. Among the highlights are the HAVANA GREY own-sister to Somerville Yearling Sale graduate EDDIE’S BOY, winner of the Group 3 Prix Eclipse and the Weatherbys Super Sprint, and the HAVANA GREY half-sister to another Group winning Somerville graduate in WINDSTORMBLACK.

Other fillies with smart pedigrees catalogued include the COTAI GLORY half-sister to Grade 2 winner THE MACKEM BULLET, runner up in the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes, the SIOUX NATION half-sister to multiple Group winner and twice Grade 1 placed WAKANAKA, and the PERFECT POWER half-sister to Group 2 winner PRIZE MONEY.

Progeny of high-class mares catalogued include the MINZAAL colt out of the multiple Group winner and black type producer ALANZA and the HAVANA GREY filly out of Listed winner and Group 1 fourth MISS WORK OF ART, herself the dam of Listed winner TAPISSERIE. They will be joined by the TASLEET half-brother to Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes third BAILEYS JUBILEE alongside the ARDAD half-brother to 2000 Guineas fourth and multiple Group and Listed performer GALERON.

The list of proven Group 1 producing sires with yearlings catalogued includes ACCLAMATION, ARDAD, BLUE POINT, COTAI GLORY, DANDY MAN, DARK ANGEL, DREAM AHEAD, HAVANA GREY, INVINCIBLE SPIRIT, KAMEKO, KODIAC, MEHMAS, OASIS DREAM, SANDS OF MALI, SAXON WARRIOR, SHOWCASING, SIOUX NATION, STARSPANGLEDBANNER, TASLEET, TEN SOVEREIGNS, TERRITORIES and TOO DARN HOT.

First season sires often make a strong showing at the Somerville Yearling Sale and CATURRA and PERFECT POWER lead the way numerically with 13 lots catalogued each, with outstanding young stallion HAVANA GREY, sire of the Somerville top lot for the past two years, represented by 10 lots. Other stallions with their first crop of yearlings catalogued include BAAEED, BAYSIDE BOY, DUBAWI LEGEND, MINZAAL, NAVAL CROWN, PERSIAN FORCE, SPACE TRAVELLER and STATE OF REST.

The largest consignment of yearlings will come from Tally Ho Stud with 21 lots catalogued, whilst last year’s sale topping consignor Whitsbury Manor Stud will offer a draft of 6 lots.

All yearlings catalogued in the Tattersalls Somerville Yearling Sale are eligible for the £200,000 Tattersalls Somerville Auction Stakes as well as the £200,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes held five weeks later. The notable sales race double has been won twice to date by Somerville Yearling Sale graduates with 26,000 guineas purchase WOODHAY WONDER landing the spoils in 2023 and 15,500 guineas buy AMICHI in 2022. There are also 51 fillies catalogued that are registered for the lucrative Great British Bonus scheme and eligible to win up to £20,000 in bonus prize money per qualifying race.
