Top Class Coolmore Quartet Lead Wildcard Entries to the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale

Eleven wildcards have been added to the Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale, headed by a top class quartet consigned by Coolmore and Wednesday’s Listed winner SURREY MIST. The sale will take place from Monday 24th to Thursday 27th October and the wildcard lots can be viewed at www.tattersalls.com.

The four wildcard lots offered by Coolmore will be sold on Tuesday 25th October and are led by the top class colt HIGH DEFINITION. The son of GALILEO was beaten only a neck when runner up in the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup before being placed in the Group 1 Coronation Cup. Winner of the Group 2 Beresford Stakes at two, the 117 rated four-year-old is out of the Listed winning FASTNET ROCK mare PALACE and will be offered as lot 754A.  

He will be joined by WORDSWORTH, who also boasts top level form when second in the Group 1 Grand Prix de Paris and third in the Irish Derby and has a Timeform rating of 115. The four-year-old GALILEO colt is an own-brother to Champion stayer KEW GARDENS out of the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes winner and excellent producer CHELSEA ROSE and is consigned as lot 754C.  

Coolmore will also offer three-year-old GALILEO colt AIKHAL as lot 754B, winner of this year’s Group 3 International Stakes by four and a quarter lengths, earning a Timeform rating of 112. He is from an excellent international family, his Group winning FASTNET ROCK dam is a half-sister to Irish Derby winner and Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes runner up LATROBE. The quartet will be completed by Listed winning INVINCIBLE SPIRIT colt NEW YORK CITY, an own-brother to top class sprinter and exciting young sire INVINCIBLE ARMY out of the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes winner RAJEEM. The three-year-old is Timeform rated 109 and has produced noteworthy efforts in Group 1 company on his two most recent starts in both the Group 1 Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp and Group 1 Flying Five Stakes, when running on to be fourth, and will be offered as lot 754D.  

Jamie Railton will consign Listed winner SURREY MIST as lot 754F. Trained by Kevin Philippart De Foy the three-year-old son of KENDARGENT was a highly impressive four length winner of the Prix Vulcain on Wednesday and is from the family of Grade 1 winner ALTERITE. He will be joined in the Tuesday session of the sale by Group 3 winning sprinter THE HIGHWAY RAT, consigned by trainer Andy Oliver’s Stragrane House Stables as lot 754E. The four-year-old DANDY MAN colt won his most recent start at Dundalk from Listed winners LOGO HUNTER and HARRY’S BAR and has a Timeform rating of 116.  

Two promising three-year-olds will be offered as wildcard lots on Monday 24th October including the Freddie & Martyn Meade trained CHAIRMAN. The son of ALMANZOR has a Timeform rating of 106 and has won or been second in six of his seven starts, including when beaten just half a length on his most recent start in the Lavazza Stakes at Ascot. The progressive colt is out of a granddaughter of Juddmonte’s Champion filly WEMYSS BIGHT and will be consigned by the Castlebridge Consignment as lot 304A. He will be joined by SPACE TRACKER, consigned by trainer Richard Hughes’ Weathercock House Stables as lot 304B. By HAVANA GOLD from the family of Group 1 winners FOOTSTEPSINTHESAND, PEDRO THE GREAT and POWER, he is the winner of three of his five starts earning a Timeform rating of 103.  

The wildcard lots also include two exciting juveniles who will be offered on Wednesday 26th October. AMICHI is the winner of three of his four starts including the £150,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes and the £100,000 Tattersalls Somerville Auction Stakes, earning a Timeform rating of 102p for trainer Ed Walker and owner Laurence Bellman. He will be consigned as lot 1139A and will be joined by Juddmonte Farms’ FLAG FLYING as lot 1102A, the Timeform 93 rated STARPANGLEDBANNER colt out of the Group 2 placed GAVOTA, who was a four length winner on debut.  

Completing the wildcard lots will be Godolphin’s top class international performer FINEST SOUND, third in the Group 1 Woodbine Mile in September and runner up in Meydan’s Group 1 Jebel Hatta in the spring for owner Sheikh Obaid Al Maktoum. The highly consistent five-year-old, trained by Simon & Ed Crisford, was also runner up by a neck in the Group 2 Celebration Mile in August and is from the family of multiple Group 1 winners SCORPION and ZIPPING. He is rated 111 and will be offered as lot 1001A.
