Triple Group 1 Success for Tattersalls Purchases at the Curragh on Irish Champions Weekend

Gr.1 National Stakes winner Zavateri was bought at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale for 35,000 guineas

Tattersalls purchases enjoyed a stellar afternoon at the Curragh on the second day of Irish Champions Weekend, registering three Group 1 victories including two for graduates of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale. The results also provided significant updates for several lots who will be offered for sale at Book 1 of the upcoming Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.

Leading the way was bargain purchase ZAVATERI who claimed the National Stakes for owners Mick & Janice Mariscotti and trainer Eve Johnson Houghton, leading home a Tattersalls sold 1-2-3. The undefeated colt was purchased for 35,000 guineas at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale by Highflyer Bloodstock’s Anthony Bromley and Johnson Houghton from the draft of Newsells Park Stud who stand his sire WITHOUT PAROLE. Newsells Park Stud will consign his GHAIYYATH half-sister at Book 1 of this year’s sale where she is catalogued as lot 534.

Gr. 1 Irish St Leger winner Al Riffa was bought at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale for 150,000 guineas

Another Group 1 success for the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale came via the emphatic win of AL RIFFA in the Irish St Leger. The Joseph O’Brien trained five-year-old rocketed to favouritism for the Melbourne Cup after his four-length victory in the Irish Classic for Australian Bloodstock. He was purchased as a yearling at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale by his trainer for 150,000 guineas from Kilminfoyle House Stud.

Gr. 1 Flying Five Stakes winner Arizona Blaze was bought at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale for 36,000 guineas 

The third of the three Tattersalls Group 1 winners was the Flying Five Stakes winner ARIZONA BLAZE who scored for trainer Adrian Murray and owners AMO Racing & Giselle De Aguiar. The son of SERGEI PROKOFIEV was sold at the Tattersalls December Foal Sale for 36,000 guineas by Fittocks Stud to Amanda Skiffington. His half-brother by BLACKBEARD is lot 230 at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale where he will be consigned by Glenvale Stud.

The fourth Group 1 of the afternoon provided another smart update for a yearling heading to Book 1 as PRECISE claimed the Moyglare Stud Stakes for Aidan O’Brien. The Castlebridge Consignment will offer her half-brother by leading European sire WOOTTON BASSETT as lot 514.

Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale takes place from October 7 – 9, with Book 2 taking place from October 13 – 15 and Book 3 from October 16 – 17. Catalogues are out now and available from Tattersalls and Tattersalls representatives and online at www.tattersalls.com.
