The catalogue for Book 1 of the 2013 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, which takes place Tuesday 8th October - Thursday 10th October, is now online and can be viewed at www.tattersalls.com. The catalogue for Europe's premier yearling sale numbers 513 lots, all of which are eligible for the 2014/2015 Tattersalls Millions which comprises six races worth £1,300,000, and all eyes will be on the 47 yearlings by the champion sire GALILEO.

The flagship Tattersalls sale has attracted a truly outstanding collection of the finest yearlings to be found anywhere in the world, including own or half brothers and sisters to 46 Group 1 and Classic winners and more than 250 Group/Listed winners. Amongst the siblings to Classic and Group 1 winners are the GALILEO three-parts-brother to Derby winner AUTHORIZED and own-brother to last year’s 2.5m guineas sale topping yearling, the GALILEO own sister to Oaks winner WAS, the SEA THE STARS half-brother to Derby winner MOTIVATOR, the LOPE DE VEGA half-sister to Sussex Stakes winner TORONADO, the ACCLAMATION half-brother to English and Irish 1,000 Guineas winner FINSCEAL BEO, the GALILEO half-sister to Irish 2,000 Guineas winner POWER, the SHAMARDAL half-brother to the Group 1 Nassau Stakes winner THE FUGUE and the GALILEO own-sister to the Irish 2,000 Guineas winner RODERIC O’CONNOR. There are also the first yearlings out of the Group 1 winning mares DAR RE MI and LAHALEEB.

All of the current top 15 sires standing in Britain and Ireland are well represented with GALILEO appropriately leading the way with 47 regally bred yearlings to represent him. Numerically he is followed by INVINCIBLE SPIRIT with 28, EXCEED AND EXCEL with 24, TEOFILO with 19, SHAMARDAL with 18, MONTJEU and NEW APPROACH with 17 each, DANEHILL DANCER with 16, OASIS DREAM and DANSILI with 15 apiece, ACCLAMATION and PIVOTAL with 14 apiece and DUBAWI with 10.

Exciting first crop sires with yearlings catalogued include Group 1 winners ARCANO, BLAME, EQUIANO, LOOKIN AT LUCKY, LOPE DE VEGA, MAKFI, PACO BOY, RIP VAN WINKLE and VALE OF YORK.

The current crop of first season sires also feature prominently with last year’s sales sensation and outstanding racehorse SEA THE STARS leading the way with 17 yearlings catalogued. AQLAAM, ARCHIPENKO, BUSHRANGER, CHAMPS ELYSEES, MASTERCRAFTSMAN, MYBOYCHARLIE and US RANGER are also well represented whilst Australian Champion sire FASTNET ROCK has 18 yearlings catalogued from his second European crop.

Overseas based sires traditionally play a prominent role at Book 1 of the October Yearling Sale and ARCH, BERNARDINI, ELUSIVE QUALITY, GIANT’S CAUSEWAY, HARD SPUN, MONSUN, MORE THAN READY, MOTIVATOR, SPEIGHTSTOWN, STREET CRY and WAR FRONT give the catalogue its customary international appeal.

As last year the largest consignments from Britain and Ireland come from Highclere Stud and The Castlebridge Consignment with 38 and 34 yearlings respectively, with the latter consigning the GALILEO own-brother to last year’s sale-topper HYDROGEN.

Commenting on the 2013 October Book 1 catalogue, Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said;

"Last year's October Book 1 attracted buyers from throughout the world at all levels of the market and the 2013 catalogue looks to have all the ingredients to replicate the success of last year's sale. All 513 yearlings are eligible for the six races and £1,300,000 prize money on offer for the Tattersalls Millions and recent racecourse successes have provided equally compelling reasons for owners and trainers to target Europe’s premier yearling sale. Book 1 of the October Yearling Sale has produced the winners of the Derby, Oaks, 2000 Guineas, Irish Derby, Irish 2000 Guineas and Irish 1000 Guineas in the last 15 months, at prices ranging from 39,000 guineas to 1,200,000 guineas and it is the consistent combination of Classic quality at all levels of the market that sets Book 1 above all other European yearling sales."

The catalogue for Book 1 of the October Yearling Sale is online now and will be available from Tattersalls and Tattersalls representatives from Monday, 19th August.
